The 1950's & 1960's Vibe

Image
Yesteryear is Centerstage Have you noticed the shift?  The 1950's or 1960's shift?  There is a silent movement of wanting less, living where it is not crowded, learning how to cook, new hobbies, being with family, helping neighbors, while thriving in an active community. Even apparel in 2021 denotes shirtdresses, jumpsuits, and headbands to name a few with a Leave it to Beaver (1957) affect.  Additionally, red lips are back! We are craving this lifestyle.  Obviously, all the time we spent at home has us wanting a simpler life with ample connection.   Prior to Covid 19 , the constant shuffle dance was in play as well as keeping up with " The Jones" , which is basically competing over "consumption and stuff" instead of just being together and supporting one another.  Think of cocktail parties where people would ask where you lived and on which street.  So boorish. The empty goal for some was to accumulate the bigger house, fancier car or ...

Flexible is a Choice

Image
Spice of Life What does it take to being flexible on the road of life especially when change is at an all time high? Well, for many the simple task of walking will transform the body and mind thus ingraining a "flexible mindset".    Of course, put your phone away or keep on silent.  Allow yourself to hear your own thoughts and unleash your creative side or solve issues.   During the last year and a half, I have been walking with my husband and friends.  We have discovered new places, trails, wildlife, foliage, and forged friendships.  We have been accepting, evolving and creating new elements in our lives.  Along the journey, we have all strengthened our bodies and fueled our minds with conversation while admiring nature and embracing connection.  We became flexible with what we were able to do on a daily basis.    Throughout the Covid 19 pandemic, we have had an opportunity to get off the hamster wheel and adjust our lives accordin...

Happy New Year - 2021

A New Chapter "Cheers to the new year and another chance for us to get it right." - Oprah Winfrey The end of the year fast approaches.  It has been a roller coaster ride for everyone.  The virus, lockdowns, tragic deaths, national election, and other elements caused for a turbulent and unforgettable year.  One we will never forget.  Some say this is the worst year in our history surpassing the depression of the 1930's, September 11th and various Wars.   Perhaps this is so because our country and the entire world shut down at various points.  Even today, lock downs exist, virus is on the rise and vaccines are being administered.  We will never forget last Spring and Summer when eerie photos of empty streets filled the newswires, epic violence occurred and of course endless news about the benevolent virus. However, we continue onward.  We eagerly move forward to a fresh beginning.  We wash away 2020 and start anew with a clean slate...

Merry Christmas 2020

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas one and all.  May you have a very festive day.   What a crazy year!  At the onset of the year 2020, we all had the best intentions, goals, and anticipation.   Of course, 2020 proved to be the opposite of anything we expected.  Completely 180 degrees of "What Now?"   There is no need to explain because we all have lived it.  What is for certain is that the year is finally ending. Thank goodness.  Some have stated this was the worse year in the history of our country.  Whether it was or is not, the end is in sight and a vaccine is beginning to be administered.  Hopefully, we each can reassess what is important in our lives, anticipate some sort of normalcy swooping back into our lives.  After all, we are social creatures and being isolated is not healthy for the mind or the body.  Spirit of Christmas - The Christmas Star Never stop believing in the future and unknown.  This season...

Inspiration Weekly Lift - Happy Holidays

Image
What Brings You Joy? The Spirit of the Holidays It is the small things after all that brings a joyous glow to this holiday season.  This morning, my husband, lit up the living room mantle with some new lights for me to see.  The effect was beautiful, and it made my day sparkle.  Now more than ever, these cherished gestures are what we are longing for at the end of 2020.  And there are many for us to receive and for us to give to others.  We need to be present and aware of the beauty swirling around us.  What we know for certain is that everything in 2020 has been turned upside down. Yet, we continue, dust ourselves off and keep on moving with grace, a smile, and a positive attitude.  Like Cindy Lou Who in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas .  After all, why not?  No one can break our spirits and love for each other.  The holiday is here with new festivities.  We are constantly reminded that our lives are the best gift.  Of ...

Inspiration - A Weekly Lift

Lakes of Beauty Build an Oasis of Love Many are sighing with relief.  Now is the time to unite and heal the country.  Be open, be present and accept what comes. Would it not be wonderful to unite a fractured society where hate and anger were and still are at an all-time high.  Is it not time to start accepting one another, to listen to one another, and to support one another? Rather than throw stones at those with opposite thoughts or opinions.  It has been interesting and sad to witness such vitriol, destruction, and chaos this past year and hence.  Perchance rhetoric going forward will be filled with kindness for their fellow man.  One can only pray for sunshine to fill souls.  Thus, we begin again.  For now, notice the beauty around us.   The fall and winter to come are filled with peaceful moments when walking on your favorite trail.  Beauty surrounds us if we look.  The leaves, the wildlife, the rain, the lakes, the...

Kindness - The Kindness Movement

The World is Beautiful. Kindness is Learned. Are you kind? Do you live your life helping and believing in others? Or do you get caught up in chaos and in events that you have no control? Does this lead to frustration and anger? Do you realize that you have no control and are wasting your energy and your life?   Do you cut off friends and family because they do not live the way you do or have the same beliefs? Are you letting evil win? I recently saw A Star is Born (2018)   starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.  It was a mesmerizing film and a must see.  Also, Oscar bound for Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.  Thus, I was thinking about a video that Lady Gaga put out with the Dalai Lama on "kindness" .    When Bradley Cooper met Lady Gaga for the first time he was struck by her kindness.  "She is kind", he stated.   I think this is a wonderful way to be described - kind .   Wou...
