Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 - Take One - Hot Picks

Image
Ready, Set & Click "Happiness is not in money, but in shopping."  Marilyn Monroe The annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins for Nordstrom cardholders next week on August 4th .  Depending on your level, you will be able to order prior to the actual start of the sale.   Your level is based on how much you spend at Nordstrom on a yearly basis.   Everyone NOW can view the online catalog at Nordstrom.com .   For the first time, in my life, I will not be going in-store for the sale.  I am positive many like me will do the same. Ever since, I was in high school, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been an exciting event for me.  Grab a coffee, meet a friend and purchase clothes. We usually see other friends and spread the word on what is hot.  No doubt, the year 2020 will be one for the history books.   If someone had told me in 2019, that everything I love in life would be halted because of a pandemic in 2020, I would have thought not possible.  As we all know, when

What I Love This Week -  Eric Javits Sun Hats "The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle" Sunshine in the Pacific Northwest is finally here in full force.  I absolutely love it when the sun soars in the bluest of skies bedazzling the trees, the lakes, rivers, and mountains turning our home into a majestic paradise.  Moreover, we need to protect our skin while our environment glistens as the sun dances upon us.  At least, I do.  I thrive in the sun, though the rays are extremely hard on my skin.    Over the years, I have suffered from serious sun and heat rashes.  Thus, on trips, in my back yard or on the water, you will always find me wearing SPF sun shirts, sun hats, lots of sunscreen and sitting in the shade if possible.   We all know and understand the power of the sun and the damage it can do to our skin.  We need the Vitamin D and love to lavish in the rays.    For me, I need extra potent protection.  As a result, I have invested in my favorite sun hats by Eri

Love Song

What the World Needs Now After another week of drama, tremendous change, and uncertainty, we need a positive light shone upon us.  How about a sign that the world will once again find peace and harmony?  And, that people will come together and love one another and treat all with respect and honor.   Today, I had coffee with a dear friend, and it was refreshing to connect and be outside, masks on, laughing and enjoying the moment.  Plus, meeting new friends with interesting life stories.  After all, is not that what life is about - connection and laughter .  I also chatted with another friend on the phone and my heart was lifted.  And earlier in the day had attended a Bar Class and Tennis with friends.  All appropriately six feet apart and with masks.  The sisterhood is alive and well.  We live in a glorious world and even though the joys of 2019 have been swept away under the carpet until the future, we can still enjoy one another.  This change is so rapid, complete, and utterly shock

What I Love This Week -  Charlotte Tilbury - Moisturizing Tint "Give a woman the right makeup and she can conquer the world" - Charlotte Tilbury I absolutely love Charlotte Tilbury's   Unisex Healthy Glow Hydrating Tint for summer fun in the sunshine.  If you are racing off to play tennis, golf or out for a walk, this extra moisturizing tint adds the perfect glow.  Wear this light foundation tint for yourself, under your mask and for Zoon or Microsoft Teams calls.  Always look your best.  Makeup keeps you looking young and vibrant. This is your moment in the spotlight no matter what you are doing.  You will have sunkissed, hydrating moisture and light tint covering imperfections.  Use only a small amount on your finger for the entire face.  The color for me was natural and lasting.  Be sure to apply sunscreen over it.  My tube lasted an entire year.   The product is so popular that it is out on the Charlotte Tilbury site and at Nordstrom.  I did find it at Sephora .   A

Listening - Are you?

Magic of Understanding "Interested is Interesting" "Do not listen with the intent to reply. But with the intent to understand."  Are you listening closely to friends and family?  Listening to what they have to say?    Do you hear them? Or are you thinking of how to respond without understanding?  I will be honest and say that I am not always the best listener.  I must focus intently on the conversation.  Furthermore, anything negative, with a defining tone or "I am right, and you are wrong" often sends me into a tailspin.  Why do I hate the negative?  Or question those that proclaim their beliefs with a certainty that everyone believes the same.  Where is critical thinking? Nothing is an absolute in life.  Look at nature, it is constantly changing and evolving as is the human condition.  Isn't that the beauty of having a brain to assimilate new information and adjust a belief?  Bottom line, adamant right or wrong belief systems create a simple-minded

Summer Sunshine - Strong & Healthy

Paint My World in Sparkling Hues Summer is in full swing and dressed in opportunity and hope. Are you listening closely? Are you watching the world you inhabit?  For example, have you ever noticed how fish in the ocean light up their world with daring hues of color?  While dripping in tones of paintings, they live in harmony with one another, while fighting to exist and stay alive. Their vivid scales are uplifting and spellbinding.  We too love color and summer is the perfect time to surround yourself in tones of sunshine.  The power of the mind, how we fill it, what we eat, how we work out and what we wear expresses summer thankfulness.  Bring on bold hues to make us sing with excitement and contentment.  After all, we cannot change what is happening in our world.  We can only control ourselves.   Shout, dance and live in stains of color filling the day with new opportunities and lessons.  Gladly, like me, many in the media are hearing the call to spread positive vibes and tones of gl

Fourth Of July 2020

Home for the Holiday "With freedom comes responsibility." Eleanor Roosevelt Parades, apple pie, contests, hamburgers, friends, family, and fireworks are the essential ingredients for a celebratory Fourth of July.  This year will be unforgettable as the Covid 19 virus has changed the celebration landscape.  The large gatherings, festivities and essential mix of fun are on the shelf across the country. We ourselves are accustomed to celebrating in the islands viewing a parade, taking walks, wildlife adventures, exquisite dinners and viewing incredible fireworks that fill the sky.  Though this is year is unique, never fret.  We have an opportunity to slip back in time and create an old fashioned Fourth of July at home.  Many of you are wondering what to do.  Well, think back to when you were little.  What did you do then?  Growing up in the Northwest, we had sparklers, black snakes, and fountains to light off in the driveway. We attended barbecues with family or friends and wat
