How to Create the Perfect Winter Outfit - Jeans, Cashmere and Scarves!

"Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York;
And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried."

Shakespeare, King Richard III, Act I, Scene I

The dark, cold, rain, wind, sleet, hail and snow days of winter are here to stay for quite sometime across the great land.  What is the perfect winter outfit that actually can be worn non-stop on days off until the early blooming days of spring?   The answer is simple and so Forever Chic Style with only three important pieces - jeans, cashmere and a scarf.   This three piece apparel outfit is best suited for people in flexible and creative career positions, for weekend outings, errands or for a cold winter evening sitting by a fire with a glass of wine and family.

You Say - Jeans For Work????  Answer: Rarely if Never

"Jeans command a relaxed and informal stamp"

Of course, for the corporate work environment, this particular outfit is not the best to impress peers and upper management. Even if a corporation stresses that jeans are divine, think twice before entering the office.   Today's ambitious youth know this well and some refuse to sport jeans since the look is too casual and frankly reflects a non serious attitude.  Jeans command a relaxed and informal stamp and not one that means business no matter what the dress code of a company proclaims.  Why?  Well, if jeans were the corporate or societal standard then management in business presenting to leaders,  politicians giving a speeches or television newscasters, guests and talk show hosts would sport jeans, sweatshirts and casual wear. Professionals will be respected and deemed influential when donning  skirts, dark pants, blouses, sheath dresses, suits, sublime sweaters, pointed toed boots and pumps than the proposed "winter outfit".

Imagine Anne Hathaway & Meryl Streep in jeans at work in  the film The Devil Wears Prada (2006)?
Frankly never - that's all!

Birdman (2014): Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Amy Ryan

Birdman - Best Picture at 87th Academy Awards

Play within a Movie - Hilarious Entertainment - A Dark Comedy

Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a quirky, clever, fresh and witty story about an aging actor, Michael Keaton, Riggan, formerly a famous costumed superhero in Birdman films.  Riggan's turns down a lucrative opportunity to reprise the Birdman role and instead directs and stars in a Broadway stage version of a Raymond Carver short story.  The four person ensemble desperately needs one more player and in enters Ed Norton, Mike Shiner, an arrogant, highly talented bankable actor with a jerk complex.  Shiner a Method actor creates havoc causing drama amongst the four actors.  Riggan, additionally deals with Emma Stone, Sam, just out of rehab, assistant/daughter.  Stone is sarcastic, resentful and moody while dealing with a narcissistic father.   To smooth over all the chaos and keep Riggan in check from losing it,  best friend and producer Zach Galifianakis, Jake, is a wizard at wordsmithing the peace.  Naomi Watts, plays Lesley, an actress excited to be on Broadway and living with the volatile Shiner and Andrea Riseborough, Laura, is Riggan's youthful girlfriend.  For a final touch, Amy Ryan, plays Riggan's compassionate ex-wife, Sylvia.

"How Did We End Up Here?"

The storyline is infused with Riggan's alter ego/cynical conscious, Birdman, a voice that keeps Riggan flying literally and figuratively.  In the film, the magical soaring and levitation are woven into the tale adding depth to Riggan's inner conflict between the past and the present while struggling to create a winning Broadway hit. Will the show be a hit? Will we appear like a loser? Why did we turn down a Hollywood Film? How did we end up here?  The place is horrible. What happened to our money and where will we find more for the play?  Questions that can indeed be asked by the audience reflecting on their own crazy journey through life.  The chemistry between the four actors is brilliant on screen.  Keaton and Norton are terrific with egos clashing and narcissism boiling over.  Watts, Stone and Risborough are also magnetic in this wild and crazy movie that is thoroughly entertaining.  And, Galifianakis shows off a different set of acting chops contrary to previous roles in the Hangover movies.

Of course, Keaton actually did play Batman twice and did fall off the film industry radar for one reason or anther.  And, Norton, is known as a difficult actor with a Method acting background. Thus, in many ways these two are playing a slice of themselves, which makes the story even more desirable and a hoot to watch.  Bottom line everyone in the cast is memorable, script incredible and cinematography shot to look like it was made in one take - all culminating into a seamless masterpiece of art.    Birdman deserves a second or third viewing because of the depth in characters, the many layers and the dialogue between all the mere bit players. Indeed a dark comedy and simply hilarious. This is one film that will not be forgotten and watched over and over again.

American Sniper (2014): Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller

Clint Eastwood:  American Sniper - “The biggest anti-war statement is what [war] does to the families left behind,” Eastwood said at Saturday’s Producers Guild Awards nominees breakfast, according to Variety, January 26, 2015

American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, is based on the autobiography, "American Sniper." Kyle was known as the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history garnering the nickname "The Legend". This gut wrenching tale is directed by Clint Eastwood adding a hint of Western films to the horrific tragedy of war all the while illuminating the individual and family toll of the deadly conflict. The tale begins with Kyle, a bronco rodeo rider, decides to enroll into the grueling training program to become a United States Navy Seal at the age of 25.  Kyle participated in four intense tours of duty gaining the reputation as "The Legend" a.k.a. the leader in protecting the "band of brothers" on the battlefield.  Kyle embodied The Navy SEAL creed  to "leave no man behind" no matter the cost.  Kyle's wife, Taya, played by an unrecognizable  Sienna Miller,  is riveting as a wife raising children, while Kyle is away for extended periods.  Kyle's reputation grows and a price is placed on his head.  Upon completion of the tours, Kyle is faced with the harsh reality of the aftereffects of war and finds a new purpose.  Cooper is mesmerizing in this role and is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role

The movie is graphic, moving and delves into the horrors and terrors of war.  Eastwood was brilliant in painting a picture of the actions that affect humankind during combat.  Originally, Spielberg was set to direct and instead Eastwood filled the role and infused cinematic skill, vibrancy and a richness in the scope of the film.  The cinematic hues of the movie are drab and dull enhancing the overall frame of incomprehensible trepidation and fear to the audience.

American Sniper, though loosely based on a true story, with Hollywood twists apparently not in the original book, is filled with suspense and insight into the "art of war" and the abhorrent aftermath of destruction.  It leaves the audience questioning the purpose wondering why and how war comes to pass from generation to generation and continues forth.   The audience sits in stunned silence during the credits with tear rolling, questions brewing and thoughts of  "mans inhumanity to man".

Chris Kyle - Awarded He received two  Silver Star Medals, five Bronze Star Medals, one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals

Written 400 Years Ago by William Shakespeare....

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Henry V, Act IV Scene iii 18-67

"In the household in which I was raised, the themes were pretty simple: work hard, don't quit, be appreciative, be thankful, be grateful, be respectful, also to never whine ever, never complain, and, always, for crying out loud, keep a sense of humor.

My name's Michael John Douglas, I'm from Forest Grove, Pennsylvania. I'm the son — seventh child — of George and Leona Douglas. And I don't ever remember a time when my father didn't work two jobs. When my mother wasn't saying the rosary or going to mass or trying to take care of seven kids in a rundown farmhouse, she was volunteering at the Ohio Valley Hospital where I was born in the hallway.

I've got six wonderful brothers and sisters. I have some tremendous, tremendously loving and generous friends all over the world. My best friend is kind, intelligent, funny, talented, considerate, thoughtful — did I say kind? He also ...

I'm so grateful, honestly, from the bottom of my heart," Keaton concluded.  "You have no idea what this means to me.  To come from the place where I come from, I'm proud of all of my friends and my family.  Thank you very, very much.  I'm extremely grateful."- Michael Keaton
