Sweater Dress Season

Image
Fashionistas Set the Stage Photo by  Alex Block  on  Unsplash *Shopping Affiliate Links Included Sweater dresses are in vogue for Fall 2023.  Did you happen to see Nicole Kidman in a gorgeous pink, Self-Portrait  knit dress at the US Open that was figure flattering?  Of course, it is now sold out.  The dress was an instant sensation paired with flats.   Or how about Meghan Markle, on a major comeback, sporting a figure hugging wool-blend grey halter-neck knitted dress by Toteme ?  Both wore these sweater concoctions with aplomb.  What about you? I have found a few that are eye catching.   Not only are these numbers chic and elegant but will keep you warm during the cold days ahead.  The pink sweater dress like the one Nicole Kidman recently wore can be combined with flats or white leather tennis shoes for our current September weather. The other two selections can be paired with boots or pumps.  Pretty in ...

Tommy Bahama - The Shift Dress

Hot Summer Sunshine "If you love something, wear it all the time...Find things that suit you. That is how you look extraordinary." - Vivienne Westwood On a recent sojourn to Scottsdale, Arizona, I was reminded of how one needs to wear something light, airy and not tight fitting.  The Tommy Bahama shift is the ultimate answer. The chambray light blue is so comfortable and looks effortless with sandals.  Especially with my Pikolinos sandals which are comfortable right out of the box.  The shift reminds me of an East Coast Hamptons dress worn either casually or out to dinner.  Add heels, simple stud earrings, lipstick and maybe a bracelet.  You will be talk of the town.   Embrace the Wrinkle - The Noble Wrinkle The shift also comes in linen and in many hues.  I own both the chambray and have two linens versions in white and also in orange.   I love them.  They are all melded into a relax fit.   If you are looking fo...

MINKPINK Summertime Dress Sensation

Image
August Sunshine "Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air" - Ralph Waldo Emerson August is here and the last days of summer are  upon the land with blistering heat and a myriad of travel plans to sunny paradise locations. Or last minute cocktail parties, date night and family reunions where a gorgeous piece is a must for the event or barbeque.  Thus the bright yellow orb in the sky demands fashionistas across the land to slip on a feminine floaty dress with a 50's vibe.  Recently, True Detective (2015) actress Rachel McAdams wore a beautiful frock from MINKPINK an Australian fashion brand.  I  adore the concoction draped on Ms. McAdams as she floated effortlessly down a street on a sun drenched day with a knowing smile, snappy sunglasses and gorgeous dress.      Minkpink   "We follow a pretty simple formula when we design,"  "We just ask ourselves 'what do we want to wear?'...

Tart Dresses - Summer, Ice Cream and All That Jazz

Step into Summer "What is important in a dress is the woman wearing it." - Yves Saint Laurent The dog days of summer are upon the land with sweltering heat, sudden rain storms in drought stricken places and a myriad of weather concoctions playing havoc with the living.  It is surprisingly refreshing to notice fashionistas from all walks of life wearing a summer dress with flats or sandals. The weather is not deterring the mission of appearing feminine and pretty this summer.  Perhaps it is the media or maybe the time has come to dress up rather than run around looking disheveled.  Here are a few summer sundress favorites by Tart .  Many are on sale. Tart Background:  I own several pieces from Tart and absolutely adore the shape, fabrics and hues for spring and summer.    Here is information on the brand from Tart Collections website. West Coast Cool with a Dose of Poolside Glamour Tart Collections is the quintessential Califo...

It's a Wrap - 40th Anniversary   Journey of a Dress - Diane von Furstenberg     The iconic jersey wrap dress embellished by Diane von Furstenberg in 1972/73 by using elastic, synthetic fabrics remains forefront and center in a Forever Chic Style maven's closet.  This simple dress, knee length, in a form fitting jersey is popular and frankly perfection on any body type.  Originally, the wrap dress was designed by designers Else Schiaparelli in the 1930's and Claire McCardell in the 1940's.  However, it is Furstenberg's wrap dress that is top of mind and always available in store and online.  I have had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Furstenberg and she is a delightful and amazing woman.        Excerpt from : The Woman I Wanted to be by Diane von Furstenberg   "I never dreamed that the simple dress I launched in 1974, a dress that was easy, sexy, elegant, and affordable all at the sam...
