Moonrise Kingdom is a delightful, quirky and funny film set in 1965.  The film takes place on an island where Suzy, Kara Hayward , is on summer vacation and Sam, Jared Kilman , is at Camp Ivanhoe, where Scout Master Ward, Edward Norton , is the military leader with a big heart.   The plot is about two young children on the cusp of adulthood who experience first love and eagerly set out on an adventure unbeknownst to Suzy's eccentric lawyer speaking parents. Suzy, a serious soul, loves to read adventure books outloud and Sam is a wayward Khaki Scout/Beige, under Ward's military regime, on a mission to be with Suzy using Daniel Boone wilderness skills.  When discovered missing by Ward, Island Policeman, Bruce Willis,  Suzy's not in love parents, Walt Bishop, Bill Murray , Laura Bishop, Frances McDormand , all wake up from dysfunctional lives as the wacky story unfolds. Prometheus  opened with promise yet failed to deliver as a summer blockbuster.   However, the visual effects were astonishing with threads of similarity to the film Avatar's cinematography magic. The movie begins with David, Fassbender , an android, learning languages, playing basketball and living a robotic life on Prometheus, a space ship in the year 2093, while the crew is asleep in oxygen chambers awaiting arrival to a specified destination. The premise follows a team of explorers travelling to the ends of the universe in a quest to uncover the origin of mankind.   Upon reaching the affirmed location on an earth like planet, the space adventurers including Vickers, Theron , Dr. Shaw, Rapace and David venture forth seeking answers.  Of course, since Prometheus , is a prequel to the iconic Alien , thousands of pods are discovered and so the saga repeats with man versus man and man versus aliens.  The script is weak and the character development is minimal a

          Snow White and the Huntsman is a swirling goblet of Grimm , Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings , Twilight  and of course, several shades of the 75 year old Disney animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) . The movie portrays a striking juxtaposition between darkness to light, good opposing evil combined with gritty cinematography , unique special effects, a ponderous script yet with note worthy performances by Theron and Hemsworth .  The fairytale opens with Queen Ravenna, Theron, after a brutal and violent scene, eagerly staring into a golden mirror stating,  "Mirror mirror on the wall whose fairest of them all?"   Ravenna's obsession with remaining beautiful and youthful, is soon to be thwarted by her stepdaughter, Snow White, played by the Bellaesq - Stewart .  Thus, Queen Ravenna's goal is to lock up, hunt down and destroy Snow White with an evil vengeance.
