Inspiration - A Weekly Lift

The Bridge Thanksgiving is this week.  Celebrations might be different this year with a smaller group, yet spreading goodwill remains constant.   Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pie and all the fixings will be set out on the table with a simple reminder.  We are thankful to live in this country.  We are thankful for our family and friends.  We are thankful for our existence.  We are thankful for our homes.   There is so much to be thankful in 2020.  Yes, there is.  Is it a tumultuous year?  Yes, absolutely one of extreme lifestyle change, tragedy for many and a shift for all to think about what is important in your own life.   What is important to you?  Is it being connected? Is it nature? Is it helping others or sharing yourself when needed?   I think this year is one of growth, challenge, perseverance, acceptance, and change.  We are crossing a bridge this season.  A bridge of hope...

Love Song

What the World Needs Now After another week of drama, tremendous change, and uncertainty, we need a positive light shone upon us.  How about a sign that the world will once again find peace and harmony?  And, that people will come together and love one another and treat all with respect and honor.   Today, I had coffee with a dear friend, and it was refreshing to connect and be outside, masks on, laughing and enjoying the moment.  Plus, meeting new friends with interesting life stories.  After all, is not that what life is about - connection and laughter .  I also chatted with another friend on the phone and my heart was lifted.  And earlier in the day had attended a Bar Class and Tennis with friends.  All appropriately six feet apart and with masks.  The sisterhood is alive and well.  We live in a glorious world and even though the joys of 2019 have been swept away under the carpet until the future, we can still enjoy one ano...

Listening - Are you?

Magic of Understanding "Interested is Interesting" "Do not listen with the intent to reply. But with the intent to understand."  Are you listening closely to friends and family?  Listening to what they have to say?    Do you hear them? Or are you thinking of how to respond without understanding?  I will be honest and say that I am not always the best listener.  I must focus intently on the conversation.  Furthermore, anything negative, with a defining tone or "I am right, and you are wrong" often sends me into a tailspin.  Why do I hate the negative?  Or question those that proclaim their beliefs with a certainty that everyone believes the same.  Where is critical thinking? Nothing is an absolute in life.  Look at nature, it is constantly changing and evolving as is the human condition.  Isn't that the beauty of having a brain to assimilate new information and adjust a belief?  Bottom line, adamant right or wrong belief ...

Summer Sunshine - Strong & Healthy

Paint My World in Sparkling Hues Summer is in full swing and dressed in opportunity and hope. Are you listening closely? Are you watching the world you inhabit?  For example, have you ever noticed how fish in the ocean light up their world with daring hues of color?  While dripping in tones of paintings, they live in harmony with one another, while fighting to exist and stay alive. Their vivid scales are uplifting and spellbinding.  We too love color and summer is the perfect time to surround yourself in tones of sunshine.  The power of the mind, how we fill it, what we eat, how we work out and what we wear expresses summer thankfulness.  Bring on bold hues to make us sing with excitement and contentment.  After all, we cannot change what is happening in our world.  We can only control ourselves.   Shout, dance and live in stains of color filling the day with new opportunities and lessons.  Gladly, like me, many in the media are hearing ...

Sisterhood - Belonging

Image
Connection is Everything  "Once women find the sisterhood, there is nothing stronger." Zoe Kravitz The last few months have been pivotal on proving what is important in life.  At least for me.  While reading numerous books, writing, working in my office, gardening, making dinner, watching Netflix, being with my husband, one powerful thought was apparent, "We need human connection especially, "The Sisterhood."    Having girlfriends is imperative along with your family and loved ones.  The sisterhood is a dynamic elixir that feeds our minds and souls.  And, yes, we can talk for hours, following tangents in conversations and often without garnering or wanting a solution to our angst.  We just want to "be." Men often are the opposite, and not always a fan of our ramblings. We love it that they want to "solve" the issue but we on the other hand just want to vent, analyze, and forget.   After all, we sisters need to state 20,000 words a day ve...

Summer of Gratitude

Image
Three Magical Words "I Don't Know" "Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.  To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."  Helen Keller The word "grateful" is at the forefront of my summer 2020 feature film.  After a tumultuous several months that graced the planet, the sun is finally shining, and the world and its people are beginning to become alive again.   You can feel the shift and the excitement with a breeze of caution drafted in the wind of change.   Along with this twirl in the wind, the words, "I Don't Know" are on the tip of everyone's tongue.  How many conversations have you participated over the months and heard the phrase, "I Don't Know?"  Interesting right.  Because we really do not have concrete, factual, testable, drilled down answers to absolutely anything of relevance swirling around in our world.  We think we know.  We think w...

Life is a Gift

A River Called Life "Life is a precious gift.  Use your day wisely."  Life is a river.  A thriving, glorious flowing body of water that twists and turns filled with fish, beavers, small creatures, birds, eagles, violent eddies, rough waters, and calm pools. Or in our case as human beings doing the best they can as they spend each day rambling down the river of life.  An actual river flows downhill from the force of gravity.  The waters can be wide and deep or shallow to walk across.  This river can be called a stream, creek, or brook.  A once serene rushing river can turn into a flooding nightmare covering land, filling houses, and changing landscapes.  Just like humanity spinning towards the unknown.    Life can be tranquil at moments and then burst into a storm of anger, disbelief, or tragedy.   A life is easily compared to a roaring river as transitions in our world are extremely rapid.  It can be difficult for the huma...

Love is the Way - Inspiration

Light Among Clouds Natures Tipping Point - Thin Line Between Order and Chaos Being optimistic and positive when billowing storms continue to rock humanity around the world is often arduous.   It is heartbreaking.   We have had months of "sheltering in place" for a worldwide pandemic causing angst, fear, loss, tragedy, confusion, frustration, anger, and pain.  Of course, as previously noted, jobs, livelihoods, rent, schooling, food, and shelter have been difficult to maintain.  Even with the stimulus payments, people want to get back to their lives, their dreams and their hopes for a better tomorrow.  The latest development is the horror of destruction, desecration and looting this week.  The tragic death of George Floyd was abominable, and all humanity agree.  Justice must and will prevail . The peaceful protesters were a necessity and emoted valid concerns that need to be addressed and amended.  However, the agitators laced among the pr...
