What I Love This Week -

Eric Javits Sun Hats

"The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle"

Sunshine in the Pacific Northwest is finally here in full force.  I absolutely love it when the sun soars in the bluest of skies bedazzling the trees, the lakes, rivers, and mountains turning our home into a majestic paradise.  Moreover, we need to protect our skin while our environment glistens as the sun dances upon us.  At least, I do.  I thrive in the sun, though the rays are extremely hard on my skin.

Over the years, I have suffered from serious sun and heat rashes.  Thus, on trips, in my back yard or on the water, you will always find me wearing SPF sun shirts, sun hats, lots of sunscreen and sitting in the shade if possible.

We all know and understand the power of the sun and the damage it can do to our skin.  We need the Vitamin D and love to lavish in the rays.    For me, I need extra potent protection.  As a result, I have invested in my favorite sun hats by Eric Javits.

You cannot go wrong wearing a stylish sun hat.  These numbers are expensive, but the outcome is perfection.  They block 95% of the UVA and UBA rays.   Some of them do not have the protection, so you need to decide, which suits you best.   Enjoy the sunshine, be brave, be courageous, be fearless and be a light to others like the sun.

Monday's Favorite Things - The Blazer

Classic is KeyL'Agence
Recently, I cleaned out my closet and donated seven bags of apparel.   The items ranged from high quality constructed blazers that I have owned over a decade along with other clothes that no longer fit.  It was difficult to let go of so many beautiful and well cherished pieces.  However, I know someone out there will love the blazers, skirts and suits that were donated.  They will be used rather than languishing in my closet and collecting dust.
At the end of Finding Nemo (2003).   Nemo and his pals state, "Now What?"
When you are done purging the aftermath in a wardrobe can be unnerving.  You may find yourself in Nemo's predicament and think "Now What?""Where are my blazers for those occasions I need them?" Of course, over the last 8 months we have been primarily house bound and without need of fancy apparel.  For me, I have lived in shorts, tees, jeans, cashmere pullovers, tennis shoes and boots.  My lovely blazers were neve…

7 Ways to Become a Butterfly

Don't Crush the Butterfly!

"Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people." - Prince

Butterfly's come in all shapes and sizes painted in dazzling and colorful hues.  The beauty and varied differences of the butterfly are astounding and beloved by the beholder.  There are approximately 20,000 species throughout the world dancing in the sun and air.   Yet, what does a butterfly mean to fashionistas? Well, for one all the people of the land can evolve into creative and wondrous butterflies.   It is through the journey of life that sometimes the environment, family, friends and peers willingly crush the beauty and charming essence of you  - the exotic butterfly.

Don't Destroy the Wings of Flight
There will always be the vengeful, the user, the hateful or a person filled with jealousy and envy that clips the wings of the butterfly.  Their insecurities reign supreme and a beautiful butterfly ready to spread its wings can sometimes be stunned with …

Jeans - Ripped, Baggy or Classic

Trendy or Modern Classic? Celebrate Being a Woman!
The Trends

The Classics

Something is in the air this Spring when it comes to jeans now more than ever.   The trendy rage of jeans with holes, rips and bagginess in dark and light denim is present far and wide across the land. Additionally, embellishments of glitter and flowers cemented on the fabric is rampant.  To top it off the "mom" jean from the '80's is making an ugly reappearance. The challenge with these trends is that the eye sees only the distractions rather than the entire ensemble or person.  Of course, the trends are fun, whimsical and youthful.  Yet, apparel draped on a silhouette is all about lines and proportions and when one element screams attention the overall look is lost and questioned.   In comparison, classic dark denim either in a skinny or straight leg jean creates clean lines and flatters from head to toe.   The dark denim blends in with the other hues and construction of the other pieces cre…

Monday's Favorite Things - The Bootie

What I love this Week?- Bootie by Aquatalia"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." Coco Chanel

Rain, cold, wind and breezy days has spread across the Pacific Northwest.  Thus, sweaters, jeans, wool coats, leather gloves, boots and booties are making a fast entrance to daily life.   It is an exciting time of the year when the world changes to the glorious colors of fall ending the days of sun and warmth.  We eagerly pull out beautiful fabrics and exquisite apparel slated for the cold fronts on the horizon.
My favorite boot brand is Aquatalia.   I love their tall boots and booties for the rain infused months that lay ahead.   The company is based in San Francisco, California.  All the boots are crafted in Italy, with meticulous care towards Italian shoemaking.  The fit is superb and comfort exceptional right out of the box.  Additionally, Aquatalia is waterproof and stain resistant even in suede.   Now, I would not wear these beautiful numbers during a snowstorm or on a day wh…
