Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 - Take One - Hot Picks

Ready, Set & Click

"Happiness is not in money, but in shopping."  Marilyn Monroe

The annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins for Nordstrom cardholders next week on August 4th.  Depending on your level, you will be able to order prior to the actual start of the sale.   Your level is based on how much you spend at Nordstrom on a yearly basis.   Everyone NOW can view the online catalog at Nordstrom.com.

For the first time, in my life, I will not be going in-store for the sale.  I am positive many like me will do the same. Ever since, I was in high school, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been an exciting event for me.  Grab a coffee, meet a friend and purchase clothes. We usually see other friends and spread the word on what is hot.  No doubt, the year 2020 will be one for the history books.

If someone had told me in 2019, that everything I love in life would be halted because of a pandemic in 2020, I would have thought not possible.  As we all know, when the virus appeared, everything stopped.  We are slowly coming back out and one day this way of life will be over.  Remain positive, upbeat and seek out the light.

Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Open

In the meantime, treat everyone with respect and kindness.  It is probable that everyone may have a different opinion on the virus.  We are inundated with information daily that might be true or may not be true.  There is no "true" consensus as information changes rapidly with the evolution of the new virus.  Several of my friends have had it and are fine.  All were over the age of 59 and several with underlying conditions.  Be safe, thoughtful, and considerate.  Do not stop your life for fear of the unknown and instead embrace being practical and prudent.  Wear a mask.

Most importantly, be kind to everyone.   If you do not like a situation, do not participate.  Walk away with grace.  After all, none of us have the answers nor do we know how this will all play out.

We are being tested mentally and physically.  It is how you deal with each situation that will define who are in this world. Will we make mistakes? Absolutely.  Learn to apologize and move forward with poise.  Think of Audrey Hepburn.  What would Audrey do?  Become an Audrey in this life - A Queen of Kindness.

Carry on! Persevere!  Now for shopping the sale! Audrey did love clothes and remains a style icon today.

Monday's Favorite Things - The Blazer

Classic is KeyL'Agence
Recently, I cleaned out my closet and donated seven bags of apparel.   The items ranged from high quality constructed blazers that I have owned over a decade along with other clothes that no longer fit.  It was difficult to let go of so many beautiful and well cherished pieces.  However, I know someone out there will love the blazers, skirts and suits that were donated.  They will be used rather than languishing in my closet and collecting dust.
At the end of Finding Nemo (2003).   Nemo and his pals state, "Now What?"
When you are done purging the aftermath in a wardrobe can be unnerving.  You may find yourself in Nemo's predicament and think "Now What?""Where are my blazers for those occasions I need them?" Of course, over the last 8 months we have been primarily house bound and without need of fancy apparel.  For me, I have lived in shorts, tees, jeans, cashmere pullovers, tennis shoes and boots.  My lovely blazers were neve…

7 Ways to Become a Butterfly

Don't Crush the Butterfly!

"Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people." - Prince

Butterfly's come in all shapes and sizes painted in dazzling and colorful hues.  The beauty and varied differences of the butterfly are astounding and beloved by the beholder.  There are approximately 20,000 species throughout the world dancing in the sun and air.   Yet, what does a butterfly mean to fashionistas? Well, for one all the people of the land can evolve into creative and wondrous butterflies.   It is through the journey of life that sometimes the environment, family, friends and peers willingly crush the beauty and charming essence of you  - the exotic butterfly.

Don't Destroy the Wings of Flight
There will always be the vengeful, the user, the hateful or a person filled with jealousy and envy that clips the wings of the butterfly.  Their insecurities reign supreme and a beautiful butterfly ready to spread its wings can sometimes be stunned with …

Jeans - Ripped, Baggy or Classic

Trendy or Modern Classic? Celebrate Being a Woman!
The Trends

The Classics

Something is in the air this Spring when it comes to jeans now more than ever.   The trendy rage of jeans with holes, rips and bagginess in dark and light denim is present far and wide across the land. Additionally, embellishments of glitter and flowers cemented on the fabric is rampant.  To top it off the "mom" jean from the '80's is making an ugly reappearance. The challenge with these trends is that the eye sees only the distractions rather than the entire ensemble or person.  Of course, the trends are fun, whimsical and youthful.  Yet, apparel draped on a silhouette is all about lines and proportions and when one element screams attention the overall look is lost and questioned.   In comparison, classic dark denim either in a skinny or straight leg jean creates clean lines and flatters from head to toe.   The dark denim blends in with the other hues and construction of the other pieces cre…

Monday's Favorite Things - The Bootie

What I love this Week?- Bootie by Aquatalia"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." Coco Chanel

Rain, cold, wind and breezy days has spread across the Pacific Northwest.  Thus, sweaters, jeans, wool coats, leather gloves, boots and booties are making a fast entrance to daily life.   It is an exciting time of the year when the world changes to the glorious colors of fall ending the days of sun and warmth.  We eagerly pull out beautiful fabrics and exquisite apparel slated for the cold fronts on the horizon.
My favorite boot brand is Aquatalia.   I love their tall boots and booties for the rain infused months that lay ahead.   The company is based in San Francisco, California.  All the boots are crafted in Italy, with meticulous care towards Italian shoemaking.  The fit is superb and comfort exceptional right out of the box.  Additionally, Aquatalia is waterproof and stain resistant even in suede.   Now, I would not wear these beautiful numbers during a snowstorm or on a day wh…
