Kindness - The Kindness Movement

The World is Beautiful. Kindness is Learned.

Are you kind? Do you live your life helping and believing in others? Or do you get caught up in chaos and in events that you have no control? Does this lead to frustration and anger? Do you realize that you have no control and are wasting your energy and your life?   Do you cut off friends and family because they do not live the way you do or have the same beliefs? Are you letting evil win?

I recently saw A Star is Born (2018) starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.  It was a mesmerizing film and a must see.  Also, Oscar bound for Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.  Thus, I was thinking about a video that Lady Gaga put out with the Dalai Lama on "kindness".   When Bradley Cooper met Lady Gaga for the first time he was struck by her kindness.  "She is kind", he stated.   I think this is a wonderful way to be described - kind.   Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us could be described the same way?

Kindness is learned.  It is a daily mantra which allows people to look for the good in others.  It is the path of being positive. It is the path of noticing others. It is the path of listening.   Thus, the path of kindness is not easy.  In fact the opposite is true especially when negativity is being thrown at you everyday from all types of media and at your fingertips  - hate becomes so easy, hate becomes the new normal. There is a constant barrage of negative stories, negative opinions and very rarely tales of goodness, strength, courage and yes -  kindness.  It is easier to hate.  It is easy to follow.  It is easy to be lead. And, in Lady Gaga's video, she states when you hate you are allowing evil to win.  Evil is intelligent. Evil is invisible.  Evil exists.

Additionally, it is easier to pontificate on what we dislike rather than what we like.  Have you noticed this fact?  People easily say they dislike that or this, who or whom and yet do they mention what they love or who or what they like?  Or do they start a conversation with what they love and like?  The answer is no.  Pay attention and listen.  Are people using facts versus only emotions?  Always interesting to sit back and observe when in a group.  And, you know when people hate this or that, person or persons their words become a reflection back unto themselves.  They are not happy or content and for whatever reason they are projecting their anger and dissatisfaction with their own lives.  Someone who is content will keep moving forward and not let the negativity wrinkle their day.  Nor do they hate.

Thus, perhaps now is the time to step up to the plate and become a beacon of kindness.  Be a leader. Be positive. Speak with conviction.  Avoid the negative.  Be kind.  Learn to be kind.

Kindness Steps

  1. Show respect for others
  2. Dress with respect
  3. Listen
  4. Speak positively
  5. Accept others opinions
  6. Look for the good first
  7. Speak good first
  8. Think before your speak
  9. Compliment sincerely
  10. Smile
  11. Be positive and encouraging

Most importantly, do not let hate or anger overcome and swirl around you.  You are not in control.  You cannot make the world change.  Vote for your beliefs.  Yet, do not succumb to the world of hate.  Because in the end the only person you are hurting is yourself. That is right - yourself.

Yes, kindness is a journey.  It is learned.  We can all try.  Sometimes we will fail. We will all fail.  After all, we are not perfect.  Just keep on trying.  Decide and become a beacon of kindness.
