Sisterhood - Belonging

Image
Connection is Everything  "Once women find the sisterhood, there is nothing stronger." Zoe Kravitz The last few months have been pivotal on proving what is important in life.  At least for me.  While reading numerous books, writing, working in my office, gardening, making dinner, watching Netflix, being with my husband, one powerful thought was apparent, "We need human connection especially, "The Sisterhood."    Having girlfriends is imperative along with your family and loved ones.  The sisterhood is a dynamic elixir that feeds our minds and souls.  And, yes, we can talk for hours, following tangents in conversations and often without garnering or wanting a solution to our angst.  We just want to "be." Men often are the opposite, and not always a fan of our ramblings. We love it that they want to "solve" the issue but we on the other hand just want to vent, analyze, and forget.   After all, we sisters need to state 20,000 words a day ve...

Summer of Gratitude

Image
Three Magical Words "I Don't Know" "Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.  To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."  Helen Keller The word "grateful" is at the forefront of my summer 2020 feature film.  After a tumultuous several months that graced the planet, the sun is finally shining, and the world and its people are beginning to become alive again.   You can feel the shift and the excitement with a breeze of caution drafted in the wind of change.   Along with this twirl in the wind, the words, "I Don't Know" are on the tip of everyone's tongue.  How many conversations have you participated over the months and heard the phrase, "I Don't Know?"  Interesting right.  Because we really do not have concrete, factual, testable, drilled down answers to absolutely anything of relevance swirling around in our world.  We think we know.  We think w...

Life is a Gift

A River Called Life "Life is a precious gift.  Use your day wisely."  Life is a river.  A thriving, glorious flowing body of water that twists and turns filled with fish, beavers, small creatures, birds, eagles, violent eddies, rough waters, and calm pools. Or in our case as human beings doing the best they can as they spend each day rambling down the river of life.  An actual river flows downhill from the force of gravity.  The waters can be wide and deep or shallow to walk across.  This river can be called a stream, creek, or brook.  A once serene rushing river can turn into a flooding nightmare covering land, filling houses, and changing landscapes.  Just like humanity spinning towards the unknown.    Life can be tranquil at moments and then burst into a storm of anger, disbelief, or tragedy.   A life is easily compared to a roaring river as transitions in our world are extremely rapid.  It can be difficult for the huma...

Love is the Way - Inspiration

Light Among Clouds Natures Tipping Point - Thin Line Between Order and Chaos Being optimistic and positive when billowing storms continue to rock humanity around the world is often arduous.   It is heartbreaking.   We have had months of "sheltering in place" for a worldwide pandemic causing angst, fear, loss, tragedy, confusion, frustration, anger, and pain.  Of course, as previously noted, jobs, livelihoods, rent, schooling, food, and shelter have been difficult to maintain.  Even with the stimulus payments, people want to get back to their lives, their dreams and their hopes for a better tomorrow.  The latest development is the horror of destruction, desecration and looting this week.  The tragic death of George Floyd was abominable, and all humanity agree.  Justice must and will prevail . The peaceful protesters were a necessity and emoted valid concerns that need to be addressed and amended.  However, the agitators laced among the pr...

Yellow Sunshine

Image
Symbol of Optimism & Hope "When life gives you lemons make lemonade"  Yellow is the color that takes your breath away.  It sings happiness, joy, creativity, analytical and original thought.  It is the hue in various shades that warms the soul on cold day.   The greatest energy booster is of course the glorious sun shining brightly in sky.  Life sparkles when the sun is out in its full glory. Summer is fast approaching, and the sunshine has been anticipated and received.  I like many have been partaking in the yellow orb heat.  Of course, keeping distance between each other while delighting in the liquid gold.    Why Yellow? Why Now?  "How wonderful the color yellow is.  It stands for the sun" Vincent Van Gogh As stated in a previous post, I have been enjoying the six part The Beach House trilogy by Mary Alice Monroe .  The stories take place off the coast of South Carolina on the Isle of Palm and in Charleston....

Beauty - I Choose

To See The Beauty "Some people chose to see the ugliness in the world.  The disarray. I choose to see the beauty." "To believe  there is order to our days, a purpose." Dolores Abernathy, (Westworld, Season 3, HBO, 2020) Listed quotes are from the final scene between Dolores to Maeve. What is Beauty? This latest article was inspired by the final scene in Westworld, Season 3, HBO, 2020 .  Dolores Abernathy, (Evan Rachel Wood), states her choice in life is to seek out beauty rather than the ugliness in the world.  The dissertation was brilliant and fitting for this moment in history.  Reminding me how important it is to follow a road of positive energy and to look for the exceptional in mankind.  According to Websters Dictionary, the word beauty means: the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit - Loveliness.  How appropriate and true.  Choosing beauty helps to...

St. Vincent - The Art of Nurturing

The Connection I hope you all had a happy Mother's Day last weekend.  This year Mother's Day had me thinking about what connection and nurturing means.  Mother's Day is a beautiful day to give thanks to our mothers and to ourselves.  We are mothers of children, friends' children, beloved pets, family, and friends.  Mothering and nurturing are a gift to spread to everyone.   It is your words to strangers or how you say hi to one another or share a smile.  It is the little things you do for family and friends.  The unexpected flowers, gifts or cards that arrive sharing care and love.  It could be the friend who lends their shoulder when you need to cry or vent.  We are all mothers in our own special way.  Be thankful and grateful for our own mothers and the mothers we have become.  The connection is at the core of being a wonderful nurturer to all you encounter.    This verbiage combined with the movie, St Vincent (2014), ce...
