The Met Gala (2016) - "She Blinded Me with Science"
III. The Royal Factor: The annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, a black tie affair is held every year the beginning of May. The Met Gala opens the latest exhibit for the summer season at the Met. The theme in 2016 was (Manus x Machina: Fasthion in an Age of Technology) which parlayed into high tech, silver lined and a variety of other outlandish man versus machine apparel to flower the red carpet. Some were just clownish and missed the mark of the theme. The mavens focused on The Great Gatsby (2013) apparel were memorable and others resembled Johnny Deep in instead of Alice in Wonderland (2010). Of course, fashionista's that stopped the presses combined classic glamour with a lively and fun twist. The benefit supports the Met's costume institute. Clair Danes in Cinderella's Zac Posen glow in the dark gown was simply eye fetching by day and in the stat-lite in the dark. More on this Oscars of the east coast in the next blog. The next step for the Maxi is to wear a concoction that is fit for an evening wedding or black tie event.
