Golden Globe Fashion 2013 Flashback! Get Ready - Golden Globe 71st Awards - January 12, 2014

In 2013, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the hostess with the most verve and excitement from a comedy duo to oversee the annual Golden Globe soiree in years.  Once again, this coming Sunday, January 12, 2014 - they are front and center ready to entertain.  Last year, Kate Hudson stole the show in her Alexandar McQueen stunning gown.  The fashion this year is bound to be spellbinding from the following Forever Chic Style fashionistas:  Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Tina Fey, Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Lange, Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, Sophia Vergara and Zooey Deschanel.    Here were last years chosen few from Forever Chic Style, 70th Annual Golden Globes 2013, January 13, 2013 affair published on January 26, 2013. And, the winner was........

The 70th Annual Golden Globes bash was held on January 13, 2013 attended by Hollywood’s finest ladies and gents draped in hues of demure nudes, rich palettes of reds and wines, a few daring blues and many in stylish black gowns.  Similar to 2012, form fitting dresses with fishtails hems prevailed along with sweetheart necklines combined with shimmer, shine and sheer fabrics with perfect hair and makeup. The men wore elegant black suits, some in black tuxes and perhaps outdid the women in 2013.   George Clooney, Ben Affleck and Hugh Jackman led the pack for the men. Alas, a few mishaps such as Holly Berry and Emily Blunt with  bizarre material cutouts, Lucy Liu with a Gone with the Wind concoction in a wallpaper pattern meant for a garden room at Versailles and Sienna Miller with flowers all over in a non-flattering two-piece gown. Lastly, several evoked Angelina Jolie from Oscars 2012 with mile high slits on the thigh showing off one leg.   Most were simply gorgeous:  Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Kerry Washington, Amy Adams, Claire Danes and Megan Fox just to name a few.  Who is The Lady in Waiting, The Queen and the Frumpy Frog?  Well....

Forever Chic Style - The Lady in Waiting

Top of the Forever Chic Style list though not Queen!

Sofia Vergara - “Glittering Diva” Vergara once again va va voomed in front of cameras and fans in a glittering black curve-hugging off the shoulder Michael Cinco gown with minimal jewels and long brunette hair.  The red lips, big eyes and smile kept the light bulbs flashing and eyes pointedly focused on this beauty.  The sense of style and winning personality shows through on the carpet and on Modern Family.  Vergara remains the Lady in Waiting since the dress is similar to last year’s Golden Globe creation.  On the other hand, this style works and if something dazzles year after year - why change?

Effortlessly confident, smart, sophisticated elegance, poise and manners

Kate Hudson - "Effervescent Queen" Kate Hudson glided on the red carpet in a show stopping and fitted Alexander McQueen gown.   The fit and sleek cut of the long black frock combined with glittering gold was a site to behold.  Additionally, the flowing blond tresses, simple jewelry and makeup stood out amongst the other ladies of evening.  Perhaps it was the warm smile that oozed enthusiasm on this chilly California night.  Hudson was Forever Chic Style impeccable and Queen for the night.

Forever Chic Style - The Frumpy Frog Queen
A visual mess.  So not Audrey Hepburn.

Jessica Chastain - “Will She or Won’t She” The sky blue hue of Chastain’s dress was simply divine against the creamy skin and red hair.  The gown, on the other hand, did not flatter the slim silhouette.  The hair was severely parted and the bodice of the Calvin Klein work of art not only could flash the press at any moment but also was lumpy and not flattering.  When turning around the fabric seemed to cut into the skin creating the cursed back fat.   Overall, this accomplished actress and stunning beauty sadly disappointed fashionista fans on this freezing California night.  Of course, winning the Golden Globe for the Best Actress in a Drama for a riveting performance in Zero Dark Thirty was icing on the cake.  Perhaps at the Oscars on February 24, 2013, Chastain will wear a fitted awe-inspiring ensemble and become the toast of the town with the Oscar in hand for Best Actress in a Drama in a film.  One could only hope!

Remember Forever Chic Style beauty always starts from within.  Even if some missed the fashion mark - it is their smiles, their laughter and their poise that was noticed and admired.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."

Lakes of Beauty Build an Oasis of Love Many are sighing with relief.  Now is the time to unite and heal the country.  Be open, be present and accept what comes. Would it not be wonderful to unite a fractured society where hate and anger were and still are at an all-time high.  Is it not time to start accepting one another, to listen to one another, and to support one another? Rather than throw stones at those with opposite thoughts or opinions.  It has been interesting and sad to witness such vitriol, destruction, and chaos this past year and hence.  Perchance rhetoric going forward will be filled with kindness for their fellow man.  One can only pray for sunshine to fill souls.  Thus, we begin again.  For now, notice the beauty around us.   The fall and winter to come are filled with peaceful moments when walking on your favorite trail.  Beauty surrounds us if we look.  The leaves, the wildlife, the rain, the lakes, the peace the small moments. Or maybe in your daily activities, you

Baby It's Cold Outside "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." Ralph Waldo Emerson The damp, dreary, wet and snow filled days are upon us for the upcoming months.   The change in the air is palpable along with early darkness falling across the land.   2020 has indeed been the craziest year for everyone with the horror of Covid, lockdowns and a roller coaster election.   After a nail-biting, hair-pulling, stress filled election this week with no clear resolution, it is best to remain steady and calm.   Life is indeed a wild ride with ups and downs, twists and turns.  You would not want your life to be dull, would you?  This year, more than any other year, in my lifetime, 2020 is one of complete societal pandemonium.  If someone had told me on New Year's Eve, that everyone's life in 2020 would be completely turned upside down, we would have looked at them and thought they were off their rocker.  Or maybe had imbibed a little too much.  Of course, it was

The Bridge Thanksgiving is this week.  Celebrations might be different this year with a smaller group, yet spreading goodwill remains constant.   Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pie and all the fixings will be set out on the table with a simple reminder.  We are thankful to live in this country.  We are thankful for our family and friends.  We are thankful for our existence.  We are thankful for our homes.   There is so much to be thankful in 2020.  Yes, there is.  Is it a tumultuous year?  Yes, absolutely one of extreme lifestyle change, tragedy for many and a shift for all to think about what is important in your own life.   What is important to you?  Is it being connected? Is it nature? Is it helping others or sharing yourself when needed?   I think this year is one of growth, challenge, perseverance, acceptance, and change.  We are crossing a bridge this season.  A bridge of hope.  A bridge of renewal.  How can we prepare to embrace this new bridge of hope?  The First Step - C
