Color is Majestic

Beauty is Everywhere!

"Trust the process." - Hacks (2022)

Summertime is ending.  The air is crisp in the morning signaling that fall is indeed around the corner.  Soon we will be donning sweaters, jeans, boots, and everything meant to be worn for cooler weather.  In the meantime, let's enjoy the last few weeks of glorious sunshine and mid-afternoon warmth.

If you have seen the show Hacks, (HBO Max), then you know the main character Deborah Vance (Jean Smart, Best Actress Emmy 2022), loves to wear vibrant hues and big colorful earrings. Her character on the show,  embraces bold, daring accessories and lots of color supporting her larger-than-life personality.  Besides the apparel point, Hacks is brilliant, funny, witty, heartwarming and engaging.  The acting and script is superb.  I highly recommend watching.

What does this have to do with vibrant hues? Well, color in clothing is coming back full force the end of 2022 and slated for 2023.  Additionally, as stated previously, color in our homes is in and monochrome whites, greys are thankfully out. After all, it was a trend and trends never last. Rather, we are ready to sparkle, shine and glitter with charm and glorious tones.  This does not mean spending a fortune but rather selecting a piece or two that brings neon happiness to your day.

Additionally, the color induced Barbie movie - The Barbie movie (2023), will release next summer and consequently with media hype, many are embracing Barbiecore, which recalls pink and neon hues from the 70's, 80's and 90's.  Over the last several years neutrals in apparel, athletics wear, and for some reason pajamas were in vogue. It was dull and rather boring, which fortuitously now brings us to an era of caring about how we present ourselves to the world.  Bring on the color.  Bring on apparel that is becoming.  Bring on a class act.  Relinquish your athletic garb attire for what is supposed to be used for - sports.  Get back into the world with stylish relish showing off the best you.

Bright Pink

Anything Green

Finally, while you contemplate a colorful wardrobe for this fall, and next summer, take a moment of silence in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away suddenly on September 8, 2022. Hopefully, you had a chance to see her majestic, moving, pomp and pageantry funerals and processions with her family, friends, and dignitaries in attendance, on September 19, 2022.  Over 4 billion people watched around the globe. And millions paid their respect lining the streets of London.  Never again will the world witness the likes of a funeral event for one person. She was beloved by her people and globally for 70 years.

Coincidently, or is it a coincidence?  I received my Platinum Jubilee, cup, and saucer, on September 7, 2022, the day before her passing.  My husband, a week before finally received an email at 2:00 a.m. from the Royal Collection, Windsor, that one was available. He ordered it immediately.  Then on September 8th, before I knew of her passing, I met a friend for coffee, and unbeknownst to me parked in stall number 70.  Interesting, right.  What does it mean? Who knows.  Perhaps in some fashion, we are universally connected to the goodness of humanity.

For this piece, her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, loved color and wore it with dignity, bejeweled and aplomb.  May we all seek out to be more like her in this life. Fill your life with kindness, integrity, strength, courage and most importantly, love.  May she rest in peace.

That's a Wrap!

Until Next Time,
Kim Hardwick
