Over the Knee Boots?
To Wear or Not too Wear?

The season for boots has arrived again with a gale force especially in the Pacific Northwest. Overnight, the autumn weather reverberated with a lion's roar. Rain, wind and and the coldest day on record for the beginning of October 2021. October 13th had a high of 50 and a low of 36 degrees. The last time this happened was 125 years ago. Yesterday, the sun was out, the trees are red, orange, and yellow and days of rain are around the corner. Today, the rain is back with a vengeance. We are in for a stormy and wintery landscape with La Nina taking hold in 2021. Skiers and snow lovers are singing praises in anticipation.
Hopefully, all of us have versatile boots meant for rain, wind, hail and yes, glorious snow. Snow means skiing, long walks, hot chocolate, fires roaring, cozy sweaters along with laughter, love, and the holiday season. What more does a gal need if you love seasons? The answer: nothing!
Now the question, I have begun to ponder is at what age are over-the-knee boots with 3-inch heels and beyond appropriate? I can hear all of you groaning and stating, "I can wear whatever I want too at my age." "No one can tell me differently." However, let's take a breather and think about how a pair of over-the-knee with heels looks on a person? What do you see first? Do you see the entire ensemble or rather the tall boots with soaring heels? The tall boots make the impression and often can highlight distracting areas of a woman's body of a certain age. The key challenge is the height of the heels. Of course, if you are a twenty something this is not an issue. Lucky you. Embrace your youth! And, for us older gals, enjoy your age. You are worth it.
What is the solution for an older woman? Lower heels. Period. If you wear over-the-knee boots that have a low heel the ensemble effect is slimming and not a distraction to the rest of the outfit. There you have it. My opinion on the issue.

I hope you enjoy the fall weather. Brew some tea, sit by the fire, don a sweater, pair of jeans, read a book and relax. The fall and winter months are here to stay. While you are at it during your daily activities sport a pair of low heel over-the-knee boots.
