The Color of Pink is Hope

Message of Pink Power

If anyone is living a normal life today, we are not doing what we need to do to save lives in this state. - Govenor Jay Inslee, Washington State

Wherever you reside on this great planet, we are all being tested mentally and many physically with the deadly COVID 19 virsus.  The daily briefings and news is filled with the latest deaths and statistics.   It is possible to become overwhelmed and perhaps feeling useless in not being able to help.  Of course, you can give money but that is not the same as being on the front-lines.  Our nurses, doctors, health care workers and first responders are indeed blessed by God for working diligently around the clock fighting this horrific virus.  We are all truly grateful for their tireless care.  They know that they will contract the virus and yet they carry on vigilantly.  Our only hope is that the vaccine will become available sooner versus later.  In the meantime, trying out the malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine combined with the Z-pack, Azithromycin in New York on patients, starting Tuesday, March 24th, may halt the virus and save lives.   Time will tell.

My state, Washington State, is on lockdown beginning tonight, March 25th until April 6th.  This means we can go to the grocery store, pharmacy, walks or bike riding while keeping a 6 ft apart.  Many other states such as NY, California, New Jersey etc. are on lockdown while others are following the mandatory guidelines in place.  The virus no matter where you live moves quickly, stealthy and those that are elderly or have compromised immune systems will struggle mightily.

What Can We Do?  What about Pink?

The hue of pink is making a dramatic comeback this Spring.  Perhaps because it is a hue that symbolizes hope, strength and love.   This is what we need now more than ever.  Pink power to act as a team, work together and follow the rules for how long it takes to flatten the curve.  We are not the first people on this planet that had to dramatically change our lives for a period of time. Wars, natural disasters and pandemics have been apart of the earth forever.   We adapt, we move forward and we comply for the good of the whole.

It is disheartening to listen or read negative messaging spewed on social media or in the press.  The impressions are wasteful, often divisive and reckless especially when  people are very sick and suffering.  What difference does it make by being mean, judgmental and pontificating from your home.  Are you on the front-line? Why not build a community of positive verbiage about unifying one another.

Additionally, it seems that some are less informed.  New information is available everyday at the press conferences from the doctors and leaders in our country.  Govenor Cuomo of New York on daily always has the latest information for New York plus added positive statements about strength, unity, fighting together and beating the virus.   Why not watch or listen?  It can't hurt to be knowledge rather than putting your head in the sand. There is only person you are hurting - yourself.   Be informed. Be a leader.  Be a team builder.

I have friends who are sewing masks and spreading positive vibes through calling or texting while keeping themselves busy.  For instance, cleaning out your drawers, files or rearranging a living space can be rewarding. It is a fresh start as we wait out the days from our humble abodes.

Celebrities Making Us Smile

How about celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres who is calling other celebrities daily and entertaining us from her living room with her cat sometimes snuggled on the coach. Jennifer Garner is fun to watch with her "pretend" cooking show as she follows a recipe and creates something yummy for her family.  She could not eat the English muffins because she is in an upcoming movie and watching carbohydrates. She really wanted too.  I am not sure I would have had her will power.  Garner just like us is making something for others and not herself.  Mark Walhberg trying to learn a dance with his wife and child.  Funny.  Arnold Schwarzenegger can be seen with his two ponies Whiskey and Lulu which has me in stitches. Seriously, the ponies are allowed in your house?  Bottom line, many are taking the marching orders about staying home seriously and figuring out how to survive with humor, hope and love.

Wear Pink for Hope!

My path is communication through writing and speaking.  I am a staunch believer in the art of communication with the goal of creating a positive effect on others.   The power of pink is hope.  What if we all started wearing pink several times a week to signal hope?  Maybe you have a pink cross-body handbag that your carry around?  Or a cozy precious pink sweater matched with pink earrings that you wear while working from you home.  The sparkle of pink will bring happiness and remind you that this too will pass.  The sun will come out, our lives will be restored and there will be hope for a new and revitalized future.  In the meantime, put on some pink, walk with pride, play with your kids, pray for the sick and keep strong.  We can do this together as one. United with pink pride or in our minds a clear mantra for positive hope and the betterment of our society and ourselves.  Pink is hope this spring.
