Summer Reading - 2017
Beach, Porch, Ocean Air - Chic Lit Reading List
The vacation spell is upon the land. The idea of a holiday varies from one person to another. For some, the idea of sitting outside enjoying the beautiful ocean, relaxing by a pool and sipping a cold cocktail is sublime. After months of stress, a relaxing respite is indeed a gift. For others a sabbatical from everyday life includes a jam packed day of activities culminating in an appointed dinner date with more adventures planned for later. Either way works perfectly well for the vacation bound travelers hopefully on the same page. Of course, a good book is definitely a must for vacationers heading to any destination. The need for reading material is imperative for flying, (you do not want to be Putty from Seinfeld with nothing to do on a plane but stare ahead or hope the passenger adjacent will be a chatty Cathy), down moments and definitely for beach time. It was noticed recently that the hard copy or soft copy of a book reigns supreme over technical gadgets. This is probably due to the ease of flipping back and forth between pages, not worrying about water splatters and lotion hands cements the constant reminder of the ease of use with a bound book. For instance, saving beach chairs or racing to the ocean, then back to the pool only to flop down onto the chaise lounge without worrying about anyone taking a technical object of value. Additionally, sitting in the backyard or on a porch or on the couch with a good piece brings moments of joy. Nothing is better than reading a fast paced, interesting filled and touching fictional novel. Learning about a foreign land, hometown and or a vibrant new culture is a delight to the mind and creates critical thinking. Jump for joy and get ready for a fun-filled summer heatwave.

Historical Fiction - Queen Anne
V. Anne Boleyn - A Kings Obsession by Alison Weir (Six Tudor Queens) (4 1/2 Stars Amazon): Weir is an exceptional historical biography writer now bringing people to life through works of historical fiction. This novel delves into the trials and tribulations of Anne Boleyn a pawn in the world of power by her family to marry the King of England. Boleyn is clever, witty, a head of her time all the while being a femme fatale for King Henry VIII. Which as history portrays leads this dynamic young woman to a hideous finale. Cannot wait to read the spin on this long ago tale from a fresh perspective.
