New Years Eve - Affirmations & Apparel

A Year of Gratitude

Vogue 2012 - Scarlett Johansson

Hopefully, everyone is enjoying the holiday season with family and friends.  As the year comes to a close take a moment and reflect on the events from the last year.  Everything that happens has a silver lining and when looking closely at any situation one can see the positive outcome.  An upbeat attitude combined with enjoying the surroundings and noticing the beauty everywhere can bring joy. Even during the darkest moments relish everything, everyone and be appreciative.  There is so much to be thankful for even with the hustle and bustle of daily life that can exhaust and hamper the ability to feeling fulfilled and in finding peace.  Here are a few suggestions for a happy, successful and glorious New Year along with highlighting a few apparel choices for the undeniable breathtaking beauty of you!

Glitzy Long Gown

Downton Abbey - 2010 - 2016

New Years Affirmation:  Be aware of others instead of focusing solely on self.

While rushing to an fro like a hopping hare, stop to notice  surroundings such as the grand bald eagle sitting nobly on a light pole, the color of flowers, the hue of the sky, the scent of perfume etc.  Notice people, notice the distance from other cars, notice your pet on the way out of the door etc.  In other words, stop focusing just on self and instead each day make it top of mind to focus on others and your glorious surroundings.  A selfish and self-focused person is a thoughtless human being.  Don't be this person. Strive for being different and connected to the world.

I.  A Swanky Affair:  A long gown is always required for a black tie event, red carpet affairs and for very extravagant New Years Eve parties to ring in the new year.  Of course, black stands out in a crowd but sometimes a little color is a show stopper.

Festive Cocktail Frock

New Years Affirmation:  Manners, manners and more manners.

Remember to say the following and look everyone in the eye:  Yes please, no thank you, you are welcome, pleasure to meet you, how are you, do you need anything, can I help you, Mr. and Mrs., thank you and thank you again.  Yes, manners are very important in any society keeping everyone connected together.   Without manners we become anonymous and miss out on truly enjoying and noticing our fellow man.  With manners we connect, we are grateful, we give and we share positive energy with others.  When we show grace, speak with grace we will live by grace.   Manners in the end are the force behind creating joy and spreading good cheer.

II. The Flirty Frock: A cocktail dress this season can be irresistible and create a ripple of envy at a soiree.   Aim for a fitted dress slightly below the knees or for a full and flowing concoction that twirls as one dances the night away.

Simple and Elegant - No Trends

***Black is the backdrop for diamond drop earrings, stunning high heels and anything which shines and shimmers showing off you.  You wear the dress rather than the dress wearing you.

New Years Affirmation: Tech gadgets - Put Away - Become Present

Yes, we love those tech gadgets from our smart phones, computers, ipads, surface, fit-bits and the list goes on and on.  We have become addicted to checking are gadgets all day long as if we will miss something. Sending texts, answering calls at all hours and basically keeping in touch with a computer is a false connection.  You cannot see another emotions, hear a voice with inflection and instead are communicating with a computer. When we are out to dinner we check our phones, we text, we take selfies or we photograph every move and we posting the photos to all social media available.  Did you know that you actually miss the moment by documenting every move you make? Or that the moment can be a bit lost with several posed photos?  Now, I for one love to document moments and post to social media. Yet, sometimes wouldn't it be better to put the tech gadget away (bottom of  handbag) and enjoy each other the old fashioned way - talking to one another and being present.  Yes, be present and embrace the moment.   The memory will remain forever.

III.  Striking Jewelry:  Adding a gorgeous necklace around a neck can brighten the face and emphasize creamy skin.  Or a diamond crusted bracelet that captures the light makes the hand appear magnificent with well manicured nails.  Of course, glittering rings heighten the allure of magical and beautiful hands.  Ah..jewelry captures the essence of the soul - beautiful and gloriously happy.

Sassy Pumps

New Years Affirmation:  Be creative!

This is the year to start something new, perhaps take up a sport, learn a language, how to paint, garden, expand cooking skills, give a formal presentation or join a group etc.  In other words, seek out and learn something completely different and new.  Stretch yourself and set achievable goals.  For instance, read one book a month which can be easy to achieve.  Carve out the time and do not say "I am too busy" because everyone can say this statement and it is the perfect stalling tactic. Think simple, easy yet attainable.  What will you gain? Well, new friends, new ideas and new thoughts all from doing something fresh and different.  Interesting equals interesting.

IV. Enviable Shoes:  Ravishing pumps complete an ensemble while showing off shapely legs.  Select a pair that will stand the test of time.

Radiant Smile

New Years Affirmation: Smile, Smile and Smile

Everyday is a new opportunity to start fresh and fill the hours with hard work, joy and laughter.  Of course, there will be moments that are difficult but these times will pass.  Along the way, hold someone's hand, talk softly, listen and wherever the day takes you - give the gift of a smile.  A smile engages others and sends warmth and positive energy to another person.  Even if you are having a bad day this single "smile moment" will bring joy to you and the other person.

V. Red Lush Lips:  Red lips are finishing touch to a New Years Eve get together of for any event.  There is something classic and memorable about a smile festooned with the perfect red lipstick.  When choosing a red hold up gold of silver jewelry to the skin.  If silver looks better - you have cool tones and need a blue red.  If gold looks best - you have warm tones and need a orange based red. Best bet is to visit a department store for suitable options.

Merry Christmas 2020

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas one and all.  May you have a very festive day.   What a crazy year!  At the onset of the year 2020, we all had the best intentions, goals, and anticipation.   Of course, 2020 proved to be the opposite of anything we expected.  Completely 180 degrees of "What Now?"   There is no need to explain because we all have lived it.  What is for certain is that the year is finally ending. Thank goodness.  Some have stated this was the worse year in the history of our country.  Whether it was or is not, the end is in sight and a vaccine is beginning to be administered.  Hopefully, we each can reassess what is important in our lives, anticipate some sort of normalcy swooping back into our lives.  After all, we are social creatures and being isolated is not healthy for the mind or the body.  Spirit of Christmas - The Christmas Star Last Seen 1226 Never stop believing in the future and unknown.  This season we all decorated to the nines, baked cookies, laid ou

Inspiration Weekly Lift - Happy Holidays

What Brings You Joy? The Spirit of the Holidays It is the small things after all that brings a joyous glow to this holiday season.  This morning, my husband, lit up the living room mantle with some new lights for me to see.  The effect was beautiful, and it made my day sparkle.  Now more than ever, these cherished gestures are what we are longing for at the end of 2020.  And there are many for us to receive and for us to give to others.  We need to be present and aware of the beauty swirling around us.  What we know for certain is that everything in 2020 has been turned upside down. Yet, we continue, dust ourselves off and keep on moving with grace, a smile, and a positive attitude.  Like Cindy Lou Who in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas .  After all, why not?  No one can break our spirits and love for each other.  The holiday is here with new festivities.  We are constantly reminded that our lives are the best gift.  Of course, it is.  We may not have gatherings, but the heart of the

Happy New Year - 2021

A New Chapter "Cheers to the new year and another chance for us to get it right." - Oprah Winfrey The end of the year fast approaches.  It has been a roller coaster ride for everyone.  The virus, lockdowns, tragic deaths, national election, and other elements caused for a turbulent and unforgettable year.  One we will never forget.  Some say this is the worst year in our history surpassing the depression of the 1930's, September 11th and various Wars.   Perhaps this is so because our country and the entire world shut down at various points.  Even today, lock downs exist, virus is on the rise and vaccines are being administered.  We will never forget last Spring and Summer when eerie photos of empty streets filled the newswires, epic violence occurred and of course endless news about the benevolent virus. However, we continue onward.  We eagerly move forward to a fresh beginning.  We wash away 2020 and start anew with a clean slate filled with possibility, hope and peace

New Day, New Dawn, New Life "Give a girl the right set of boots, shoes, and she can conquer the world." - Marilyn Monroe January 2021 is here.  Yes. We have patiently waited, been thoughtful, diligent and now the year is upon us.  Wishing happiness to all of you as we battle on.  The end is nearing for the virus, which brings smiles to everyone.  It is an exciting time with revitalized energy coursing through our veins.  An era of promise hope and  much more.  Get ready to soar, achieve your dreams and spread goodwill toward others.  "What good is the warmth of summer with out the chill of winter?" - John Steinbeck Along the path, winter has arrived.  Rain, snow, sleet, and hail in the mix for some and in the future for others.  What I love right now?  Over the knee boots.  A must for the cold days of winter.  Here are my favorites for a winter wonderland of fashion.  Even if you are working from home, there is nothing better than slipping on a beautiful pair of o
