Winter Essentials for Crisp Cold Days

 Winter Magic

Winter is gracing the land with snow, wind, rain and hail. The holidays are here showering the land with images of Norman Rockwell's famous illustrations anticipating happy times.  There are thoughts of family traditions, visiting love ones, seeing friends, and eating Turkey with all the fixings along with relaxing, laughing and being thankful.  Yet, natures magnificent elements swirl, the world continues to spins and chaos remains paramount bringing prayers and thoughts of peace for all.    As a native of the Northwest, the varied seasons are a blessing and always create magical moments. The crisp cold mornings, the landscape changes and the excitement of the holidays is wondrous for the young and old. And, of course wearing stylish pants, cashmere turtlenecks, toasty scarves and warm apparel is so divine for every fashionista.  Fashion mavens know this is the one season to bedeck themselves in everything fashionable.  Winter is also the season to invest in the "best of the best" in quality fabrics and according to budget. Remember purchasing cheaper apparel will wear out and not last another season.   So in order to provide extra cozy moments lets highlight the top five "must have's" for a glorious and thankful holiday season!

I.  The Cashmere Scarf:  When the temperature drops a cashmere scarf provides necessary warmth to protect the face from the elements.  The extra pizzazz can brighten up a coat, add texture over a sweater all the while creating cozy warmth.   Of course, owning several designs and hues in other fabrics is perfectly divine.  This number is the cat's meow for the winter solstice. I have had a Burberry scarf for over five years and it still looks purr-fect and is very warm.

II.  UGG - Array of Cozy Hues:  Every year a pair of colorful or black UGG slippers conveniently appear under the tree.  These numbers are worn all year long rain and shine providing extra heat.   Imagine sitting next to a lavish fire with a pair of UGG's while snuggled under a faux fur while shipping holiday cheer?  Lovely - right!  My favorite style.  Mmmm....What  ray of color this year?

III.  Please Help Winter Lips:  With the winter graces of blue skies, crisp days and all the other weather happenings the lips can become chapped and dry.   This is not acceptable for fashion doyennes heading off to a holiday soiree.  Here are two lip balms that really work!  Promise!

Expensive Yes - Lasts Over Six Months

***This cream is for the eyes and lips.  Place a small amount around the eyes and on and around the lips.   Also, buy the refill as it costs less.  Remember purchasing multitudes of less expensive products will be ineffectual and waste dollars.   I know this for a fact and wish I hadn't partake in less expensive products recently.

IV.  Handsome Hands & Lux Gloves:  Hands take a vicious beating during the holidays and throughout the cold months.  Pamper in lotion and protect in a stylish glove.   Of course, if snowing or trampling through the outdoors a ski type of glove is more appropriate.  For now, concentrate on the lux glove for all upcoming events.

Monday's Favorite Things - The Blazer

Classic is KeyL'Agence
Recently, I cleaned out my closet and donated seven bags of apparel.   The items ranged from high quality constructed blazers that I have owned over a decade along with other clothes that no longer fit.  It was difficult to let go of so many beautiful and well cherished pieces.  However, I know someone out there will love the blazers, skirts and suits that were donated.  They will be used rather than languishing in my closet and collecting dust.
At the end of Finding Nemo (2003).   Nemo and his pals state, "Now What?"
When you are done purging the aftermath in a wardrobe can be unnerving.  You may find yourself in Nemo's predicament and think "Now What?""Where are my blazers for those occasions I need them?" Of course, over the last 8 months we have been primarily house bound and without need of fancy apparel.  For me, I have lived in shorts, tees, jeans, cashmere pullovers, tennis shoes and boots.  My lovely blazers were neve…

7 Ways to Become a Butterfly

Don't Crush the Butterfly!

"Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people." - Prince

Butterfly's come in all shapes and sizes painted in dazzling and colorful hues.  The beauty and varied differences of the butterfly are astounding and beloved by the beholder.  There are approximately 20,000 species throughout the world dancing in the sun and air.   Yet, what does a butterfly mean to fashionistas? Well, for one all the people of the land can evolve into creative and wondrous butterflies.   It is through the journey of life that sometimes the environment, family, friends and peers willingly crush the beauty and charming essence of you  - the exotic butterfly.

Don't Destroy the Wings of Flight
There will always be the vengeful, the user, the hateful or a person filled with jealousy and envy that clips the wings of the butterfly.  Their insecurities reign supreme and a beautiful butterfly ready to spread its wings can sometimes be stunned with …

Jeans - Ripped, Baggy or Classic

Trendy or Modern Classic? Celebrate Being a Woman!
The Trends

The Classics

Something is in the air this Spring when it comes to jeans now more than ever.   The trendy rage of jeans with holes, rips and bagginess in dark and light denim is present far and wide across the land. Additionally, embellishments of glitter and flowers cemented on the fabric is rampant.  To top it off the "mom" jean from the '80's is making an ugly reappearance. The challenge with these trends is that the eye sees only the distractions rather than the entire ensemble or person.  Of course, the trends are fun, whimsical and youthful.  Yet, apparel draped on a silhouette is all about lines and proportions and when one element screams attention the overall look is lost and questioned.   In comparison, classic dark denim either in a skinny or straight leg jean creates clean lines and flatters from head to toe.   The dark denim blends in with the other hues and construction of the other pieces cre…

Monday's Favorite Things - The Bootie

What I love this Week?- Bootie by Aquatalia"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." Coco Chanel

Rain, cold, wind and breezy days has spread across the Pacific Northwest.  Thus, sweaters, jeans, wool coats, leather gloves, boots and booties are making a fast entrance to daily life.   It is an exciting time of the year when the world changes to the glorious colors of fall ending the days of sun and warmth.  We eagerly pull out beautiful fabrics and exquisite apparel slated for the cold fronts on the horizon.
My favorite boot brand is Aquatalia.   I love their tall boots and booties for the rain infused months that lay ahead.   The company is based in San Francisco, California.  All the boots are crafted in Italy, with meticulous care towards Italian shoemaking.  The fit is superb and comfort exceptional right out of the box.  Additionally, Aquatalia is waterproof and stain resistant even in suede.   Now, I would not wear these beautiful numbers during a snowstorm or on a day wh…
