Reese Witherspoon - Draper James Apparel & Home

Southern Grace & Charm

Reese Witherspoon has enchanted American audiences in films for over two decades.  This Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in Walk the Line (2005) remains an actress with infinite acting chops and ladylike determination all stemming from strong southern roots of grace and charm. Of course, there are a slew of movies to count though the most memorable include Witherspoon as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (2001) a zany fashionable southern California gal with appeal off to law school, Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Water for Elephants (2011) and in last years film Wild (2015).  And, a producer to boot with Gone Girl (2014).

"Whoever said orange was the new pink, was seriously disturbed."  Elle Woods

In 2015, Witherspoon debuted a new fashion and home line, Draper James, reflecting Southern culture with a modern Elle Woods southern California twist.  The brand is beautifully appointed with some pieces produced in the good ole USA.  The price point varies from fourteen to four hundred with quality as a forefront priority.  The apparel is cheery, colorful, classic, delightful and very retro with a DJ monogram.  And, if inspired a personalized monogram can be added to select items. Yes, Draper James is the answer for the classic American lady and a hospitable home.

Draper James

The name was derived by Witherspoon's influential grandparents - Dorothea Draper and William James Witherspoon.  These two taught her about southern gracious living from how to dress, caring for a home, being helpful to a neighbor and to always be open to visitors in her house.

"I created Draper James to honor my past and allow others to embrace the beauty, style and excitement that embodies what is happening in the South today" - Reese Witherspoon

Monday's Favorite Things - The Blazer

Classic is KeyL'Agence
Recently, I cleaned out my closet and donated seven bags of apparel.   The items ranged from high quality constructed blazers that I have owned over a decade along with other clothes that no longer fit.  It was difficult to let go of so many beautiful and well cherished pieces.  However, I know someone out there will love the blazers, skirts and suits that were donated.  They will be used rather than languishing in my closet and collecting dust.
At the end of Finding Nemo (2003).   Nemo and his pals state, "Now What?"
When you are done purging the aftermath in a wardrobe can be unnerving.  You may find yourself in Nemo's predicament and think "Now What?""Where are my blazers for those occasions I need them?" Of course, over the last 8 months we have been primarily house bound and without need of fancy apparel.  For me, I have lived in shorts, tees, jeans, cashmere pullovers, tennis shoes and boots.  My lovely blazers were neve…

7 Ways to Become a Butterfly

Don't Crush the Butterfly!

"Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people." - Prince

Butterfly's come in all shapes and sizes painted in dazzling and colorful hues.  The beauty and varied differences of the butterfly are astounding and beloved by the beholder.  There are approximately 20,000 species throughout the world dancing in the sun and air.   Yet, what does a butterfly mean to fashionistas? Well, for one all the people of the land can evolve into creative and wondrous butterflies.   It is through the journey of life that sometimes the environment, family, friends and peers willingly crush the beauty and charming essence of you  - the exotic butterfly.

Don't Destroy the Wings of Flight
There will always be the vengeful, the user, the hateful or a person filled with jealousy and envy that clips the wings of the butterfly.  Their insecurities reign supreme and a beautiful butterfly ready to spread its wings can sometimes be stunned with …

Jeans - Ripped, Baggy or Classic

Trendy or Modern Classic? Celebrate Being a Woman!
The Trends

The Classics

Something is in the air this Spring when it comes to jeans now more than ever.   The trendy rage of jeans with holes, rips and bagginess in dark and light denim is present far and wide across the land. Additionally, embellishments of glitter and flowers cemented on the fabric is rampant.  To top it off the "mom" jean from the '80's is making an ugly reappearance. The challenge with these trends is that the eye sees only the distractions rather than the entire ensemble or person.  Of course, the trends are fun, whimsical and youthful.  Yet, apparel draped on a silhouette is all about lines and proportions and when one element screams attention the overall look is lost and questioned.   In comparison, classic dark denim either in a skinny or straight leg jean creates clean lines and flatters from head to toe.   The dark denim blends in with the other hues and construction of the other pieces cre…

Monday's Favorite Things - The Bootie

What I love this Week?- Bootie by Aquatalia"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." Coco Chanel

Rain, cold, wind and breezy days has spread across the Pacific Northwest.  Thus, sweaters, jeans, wool coats, leather gloves, boots and booties are making a fast entrance to daily life.   It is an exciting time of the year when the world changes to the glorious colors of fall ending the days of sun and warmth.  We eagerly pull out beautiful fabrics and exquisite apparel slated for the cold fronts on the horizon.
My favorite boot brand is Aquatalia.   I love their tall boots and booties for the rain infused months that lay ahead.   The company is based in San Francisco, California.  All the boots are crafted in Italy, with meticulous care towards Italian shoemaking.  The fit is superb and comfort exceptional right out of the box.  Additionally, Aquatalia is waterproof and stain resistant even in suede.   Now, I would not wear these beautiful numbers during a snowstorm or on a day wh…
