Mothers Day is this weekend and with this day it is interesting to ponder about the essence of what makes a mother, mom and a wise woman. Mothers can guide children, can provide protection and can remain a constant force and role model to a child for life. The word "can" is used since not all are graced with an inspirational and caring birthing mother yet this does not stop a child to form other "mother" attachments. It is the beauty and desire of most women to provide wisdom to the next generation and to understand that the path of being a mother comes in many forms which does not always include birthing a child. There are all types of mothers ranging from women who give birth, adopt, stepmothers or being fortunate enough to be a second mom to their friends children. The tapestry is breathtaking and fulfilling for women making choices to help build self confidence, inspire a work ethic and breath positive reassurance to young women, young girls or with girlfriends. The joy is ten-fold, memorable and worth every moment.
Don't Forget Your Dreams and Passions!
Along the path of "Mother Enlightenment", it is important to not forget what drives a woman and to remember that children become adults with the end goal of forming a life that is separate from the parent. In other words, all women must find a mission statement for themselves and build a life separate from rearing children which may include a career, a passion, a sport, a group, a loved one, travel, reading or anything that fills the soul. Embrace yourself, thank yourself, embrace other mothers in life, remember those that have passed and more important never forget this is your life too. Don't forget your spouse, significant other nor you in the process of raising children.

Boyhood an excellent film which depicts a family over a span of twelve years. In many ways the film could have been called Motherhood since the audience watches the main characters age gracefully. At the end of the film, she finds herself alone as her son departs for college and sadly wonders what has happened to her life. Choose to not be this person. Instead spread your wings, sail the seas and enjoy life's adventures by focusing on being a fulfilled woman who gives love and guidance to family, children and to all the women in your life.
