On Monday, May 4, 2015, The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York City benefit gala featured the new exhibit China: "Through the Looking Glass."   This gorgeous display will explore the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion.   The gala was a glamorous affair attended by a flood of celebrities, socialites and designers all ready to celebrate the Chinese influence on fashion throughout the ages.  Interestingly, the theme title seemed to confuse many in attendance with the characters in the movie Alice in Wonderland (2010) since the clothing choices by the elite were indeed a madcap of eccentricities.   These crazed apparel selections sandwiched amongst the stylish and appropriately dressed caused excitement and amusement for the world at large.

Rag & Bone Sweaters

Winter Sale Pixabay - No Attribution Required We live for sales these days!  Do we not?  Getting a deal on well made, designed clothing with a percent off. What more can we ask for? Currently, there are fantastic price decreases on one of my favorite brands, Rag and Bone.  During the winter months, and even in early Spring and Fall, there is nothing better than a warm cashmere sweater to drape yourself in against the chill.   Of course, I must recommend purchasing a sweater in a classic shape that is timeless rather than on trend.  Classic or Trendy?  Which brings up a good point?  There are always new trends for us to partake each season.  For instance, flared jeans are making a strong comeback.  Whereas skinny jeans remain front and foremost.  A skinny, cigarette or straight leg jean can be worn for years rather than with a flared hem. Another trend hitting the airwaves are loose trouser pants, which in my fashion opinion are reminiscent of pajamas.  If you are going to buy pants,

Red Bathing Suits

Lady in Red Elizabeth Taylor - Pixabay "When in doubt, wear red." Bill Blass Red is the color of passion, danger, anger and ultimately love.  It is a hue that stands out in a crowd, commands attention, and flatters the owner.  Think of fashionistas sporting a red dress in film or in the real world.  Heads turn, smiles happen, and the world stops for a moment.  Red is the color that truly makes an entrance.  Finding the correct red can be daunting.  If you have light, creamy skin with a pink cast, often a blue red is best.  If your skin is olive shade with a yellow undertone, then an orange red is your choice.  This handy chart by RITO designer knitwear can help identify your personal color of red.  Now the fun begins.  Once you have your color wheel done, you can then choose a delightful red hue from lipsticks, apparel and yes for a bathing suit.  The next mission is finding a red bathing suit, which often is difficult.  One would believe that a red bathing suit would be av

Spring Goddess Are you green with envy?  Emerald, green, lime green, kelly green, chartreuse green, hunter green and many other greenish tones are making a solid comeback this Spring and Summer of 2021.  I noticed a substantial display on a recent tour of my favorite department store of this lush and fertile color.   Perhaps wearing green is a symbol of rebirth, a new beginning, of hope and life to begin anew.   After all, the last year has been one for the ages and never to be forgotten.   I believe we are now slowly walking out of the woods, no pun intended, and are headed for greener pastures with flowers blooming, the sun shining and an eagerness to get back to our journey in this life.  Glorious Green Nature Green symbolizes healing, growth, and hope.  And, as we know, nature is at the core of the hue. It is soothing, relaxing, and youthful.  When I look at the majestic Douglas Fir trees surrounding my house and beyond, or the manicured sea of green grass in the backyard, new bu

Jeans for Spring 2021

Vi br ant Hues Pixabay - No Attribution Required The sun is out, birds are singing, and Spring is here.  I spent the day in the yard cutting back plants, grasses, and ferns in preparation for the new, glorious, and riotous growth.   The bounty is always stunning with an array of colors.  Later in the Spring, I will fill my pots with hues that add to the décor of the backyard and deck.  Yes, Jeans Please? What does this have to do with jeans in rainbow tones?  Well, the world is filled with beauty.  You must look for it and when you do sigh with delight.  Recently, my favorite celebrity diva, Suzanne Somers, was wearing and rocking skinny orange jeans with black pumps on one of her weekly Facebook videos.  Which, of course, were stunning on her.  Orange jeans are the perfect signal that springtime has officially arrived.   Of course, she is in desert and it is a bit warmer.  However, our day in the heat, will soon be here in the Pacific Northwest.  Right now, is the moment, to pull o
