Met Gala 2015 - Red Carpet Fashion
Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute
China: "Through the Looking Glass"
May 7, 2015 - August 16, 2015
The Good, The Mad, The Crazies & The Shining Star
On Monday, May 4, 2015, The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York City benefit gala featured the new exhibit China: "Through the Looking Glass." This gorgeous display will explore the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion. The gala was a glamorous affair attended by a flood of celebrities, socialites and designers all ready to celebrate the Chinese influence on fashion throughout the ages. Interestingly, the theme title seemed to confuse many in attendance with the characters in the movie Alice in Wonderland (2010) since the clothing choices by the elite were indeed a madcap of eccentricities. These crazed apparel selections sandwiched amongst the stylish and appropriately dressed caused excitement and amusement for the world at large.
