Top 10 Packing List - Sun Vacation - Meet Me in Hawaii!

Ultimate Packing Guide for Fashion Conscious

"Live in the sunshine. Swim the sea. Drink the Air." - Emerson

Sandy beaches, ocean waves, blue sky with palm trees swaying create visions of sun filled delight.   The images can be tantalizing with many counting the days until toes hit the beach and limbs float in a glistening pool.   The touch of sunshine warms the soul and invigorates the winter weary after months of cold, wind, hail and grey days  Once the destination and airfare is secured, house cleaned and all other daily life lists are completed arrives the special moment of packing the suitcases.   For some the task is easy and without stress and for others the mere thought of organizing, compiling and designing a vacation filled suitcase incites anxiety.  What if the wrong dress is packed? The black sandals are forgotten, or nothing matches?  Once again, a fashion maven is over packed with a rock-like suitcase and money being handed over at the ticket counter.  Of course, purchasing upon arrival is always available, but what if the act of packing was super simple?

Rule #1:  Make a List, Make a List, Make a List

Rule #2:   Devise  2 Color Scheme along with Black & White - Black, White, Red and Pink or maybe it is Orange and Blue.   Get the idea?

"Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever." - Ralph Lauren

Rule #3:  Check Baggage.  Check Baggage. Check Baggage.

Nothing more cumbersome and completely annoying than dealing with suitcases that must be rolled onto the plane and then swung above and then jammed into the overhead bins.  Often times luggage is stored several bins down and not above the seat.  The idea by the "onboard luggage only" carriers is to get off the plane quickly and to not lose luggage.  Yet, what if everyone checked luggage?  Hence wouldn't boarding and departing a plane be swifter and faster instead of  being subverted to a rigorous exercise of juggling packages, suitcases, etc. amongst a myriad of  human beings.  And, how often is luggage lost in today's world? If lost for a day or two - remember once on a sunny beach, put on the bathing suit folded in a small carry on or handbag - have a cocktail and know the rerouted luggage will arrive soon! Carpe Diem!

Irresistible Sundresses

"Life is too short to wear boring clothes"

III.  The Statement Making Bermuda: The Bermuda short reigns supreme for a fashion maven on the beach or on the town.  Easy to dress up with a floral top and heeled sandals.  Leave short shorts at home or better yet slate for the 20 something.  Vince brand comes in many hues and often on sale!

Orange on Vacation?

Vince Vintage Wash Bermuda Shorts - $198 Now $116.98
***FCS Tip: Size down

Michael Kors Slim Bermuda Shorts $89.50

The Essential Tee-Shirt

"A woman can be overdressed but never over elegant."  - Coco Chanel

Rule  #4:  Dress your age.  Dress your age.  Dress your age.

If a trend is "in" for the twenty something - do not wear it!   Example:  Colorful "Booties" are fun with a pair of black stretch pants, top and jacket.  Fact: Colorful booties or booties for that matter look best on the younger fashionista since the eye will notice the booties first and the figure second without capturing the overall ensemble and person.   The youth can get away with almost anything and have the right to showcase certain pieces.   Older and wiser fashion mavens wanting to be noticed need to focus on  "the classics".   Fact:  You have earned it and will be noticed by everyone for having style, grace and impeccable taste.
IV. The Must Have Tee-Shirt: Tee-shirts are indispensable on vacation.  These numbers can be worn as a quick cover up from the sun or thrown on with shorts for instance glamour.  Simple, classic and easy to pack.

Long Lasting - Expensive - Worth It

Majestic Long Sleeve Crewneck - $135

Splendid Deep V Half Sleeve Tee - $50
V.  The Versatile Swimsuit:  Sunscreen etc.  The one piece swimsuit enhances the feminine silhouette.  In fact, the one piece style is on the rise for younger women too.  Think of Farrah Fawcett in the infamous ravishing red one-piece bathing suit which sold over 20 million copies.  Why not be a bit mysterious and completely unforgettable?

Books to Read - February 2021

Read, Read, Read "We read to know we are not alone." C.S. Lewis Do you love to read? I do.  In fact, I always have a book on deck for my pleasure.  I wake up in the morning and carry my favorite novel downstairs.  It is how I start and end my day.  I am always reading.  It is my quintessential past time.  What do I like about the novels I chose?   I enjoy historical fiction with tales about the human condition.  Or I love stories told in a new place that I have never visited. Afterwards, I want to travel there and sink into the surroundings.  If I enjoy an author, I will read ALL  his or her books.  I tend to read books where the woman is the lead character.   I enjoy the strife, angst, and messiness of the characters' lives and how they prevail with strength, wisdom and love.  The struggle reminds me of the complexity of life and the beauty all in one snapshot.   Additionally, authors who share human drama, vivid details of the landscape and scenery plus poured their h

Perfume Spritz - My Favorite Things

Beauty in a Bottle "Perfume heralds a woman's arrival and prolongs her departure." Beauty is hard to describe.  The very essence of what is beautiful varies from person to person, culture to culture and land to land.  Perfume is similar to the idea of beauty. It is subjective.  Perfume is a mystery, and its elixir is a marvel. The scent becomes its own magic.  It is the lingering scent that creates a moment or recreates a memory of a person.  Whether it is spice, floral or warm notes of lavender or vanilla, a scent can bring immense comfort and pleasure.  What does stand the test of time is a signature perfume.  Perfume was created in 1340 for the Queen of Hungary.  Thus, the story of fragrances commenced.  Perfume remains at the top of everyone's list of "feeling good."  Additionally, perfume sales in 2020 were close to $34B.   We all have experienced being around someone who smells divine.  The scent is memorable and hard to capture in a bottle. Even in

Happy Valentines Day 2021

Love is in the Air!!!  Or is it Snow? "Where there is love there is life." Mahatma Gandi What Does Valentine's Day Mean to You?  It is snowing hard here in the Pacific Northwest.  We have eight inches, and it is still swirling down and covering everything.  The beauty of snow changing the landscape is a sight to behold.  Ever since I was a child, I have loved the snow.  We used to play endlessly in the streets building snowmen, having snowball fights, making snow angels, sledding and creating igloos. We did not go inside until we were cold, wet, and hungry.  We were always in the elements playing with friends or family members. The days of being a child without a care in the world are indeed cherished.  Today, I love the sound of kids playing in the snow.  It is wonderous.   Of course, Valentines Day 2021 for me is a winter wonderland.  Hopefully, we will continue to have power.  It remains to be seen.  Mother nature moves at its own pace and can never be accurately pr

Winter Fashion 2021

The Chilly Artic "Good clothing is a passport to happiness." Yves Saint Laurent Yves St. Laurent Fashion Exhibit - Seattle Art Museum (2016) The winter of 2021 has been brutally cold across the country.  One for the ages. With snowstorms, bitter winds and ice, the frigid temperatures have seeped into everyone's bones.  Even places slated to be warm in February tend to be on the cooler side of the temperature gage.  Though, I must note that temps are slowly getting warmer in the sun infused states.  Beyond the weather, nerves remain flared as people struggle to get the vaccine, keep safe and bundled up all in one sweep.  The stress is at an all-time high.  It seems to me; we need to sit back and figure out how to be helpful to one another.  To be positive and appreciative for family and friends during these trying moments. We are closer to having everyone vaccinated and getting back to a semi-normal life.  In the meantime, we must be patient and diligent awhile longer.
