Fashion Finest Moments

Fashion apparel and movies are two forms of art that inspire and move the observer. Whether in a film or on a red carpet wearing a gorgeous gown combined with accessories, makeup and styled hair orchestrates a splendor in the sun for the fashionista and the designer. Where is the best examples of grace, poise and unforgettable beauty on the red carpet? Why in Cannes, of course!  The Cannes International Film Festival (French: Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or Festival de Cannes) held in Cannes, Frances in May is an annual event which previews new films and documentaries from around the world.   The correct pronunciation of "Cannes" - is like the word "can".  Originated in 1946, this yearly spectacle is the most awaited and prestigious film festival across the planet. Not only are the films eagerly anticipated but the fashion on the red carpet is also a moment to be remembered and recorded.  By invitation-only the celebrities and honored guests flock to the  ever red carpet in the latest dress designs.  After all this is France and dressing to the nines is not only expected but is demanded.

Nicole Kidman - Effortlessly Glamorous - "Darling of the Festival"

Kidman was stunning on the red carpet opening night of the festival in an Georgio Armani Prive' blue piece with detailed jewels of crystals, baguettes and pearls capturing the light while strolling on the red carpet.  Kidman the star in new film Grace of Monaco captured the night with the essence of Grace Kelly draped in the glorious concoction.  With nerves in abundance for the film to open the festival, this movie star was calm and elegant and a sheer joy to witness.  Additionally, Kidman appeared in a variety of dresses throughout the festival with a strong sense of style much like Princess Grace of Monoco.  The fashion images from the film were breathtaking though word on the street is the film is mediocre.  Only time will tell.

Cate Blanchett:  "Exquisitely Breathtaking"

Blanchett another red carpet favorite did not disappoint throughout the affair. The vast array of modern and romantic gowns noted sophistication and elegance.  No other can come close to Blanchett's flair for style.  Additionally, it is incredibly refreshing that Blanchett is aging with style by limiting the fillers and Botox.   All hail this incredible actress.   Lines are the essence of a life well lived.

Frieda Pinto:  "Exotic Beauty"

Pinto was a fairy princess in a Kors pale hue tulle frock with sequins and feathers.  The red lipstick and softly curled Veronica Lake hair was breathtaking.  This L'Oreal Lady and actress was sensational to behold.

Suki Waterhouse: "Pale Pink Goddess"

Waterhouse fresh from Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala in New York City May 5, 2014 was ready to step out in style in Cannes, France.  This youthful 26 year old beauty took the red carpet with elegance and panache.  The simple pale pink strapless gown with drop earrings, pointed toe pumps was sensational and memorable.

Sonam Kapoor:  "Strikingly Scarlett O'Hara"

Sonam Kapoor attending the premiere of actress Hilary Swank's drama "The Homesman" stuck a pose in an Elie Saab dress with and updo and diamonds glittering at her ears.   Kapoor a stunning woman was a sight to admire on this night.  The full ball gown riveted on the red carpet signaling a  flashback to actress Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind" 1939 film.

Blake Lively

Lively glided down the French red carpet in a Gucci Premiere gown oozing Hollywood glamour. The black and white off the shoulders frock emphasized a perfect waist in eye catching black and white. The additional necklace with blonde hair elegantly styled and ravishing red lips were divine! Without a doubt, Lively was Queen for the night in this stunner dress.  Ryan Reynolds, husband, also wore Gucci.   The photo of the red smile with Reynolds captured a thousand flashes of light of this happy Cinderella and her Charming Prince.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain, captivated, stunned and commanded a moment of silence on the red carpet at every event during the Cannes 67th International Film Festival.  This 37 year old actress and fashionista has a strong sense of old style glamour.  Every dress donned by this beauty was simple drop dead gorgeous.  Perhaps it was the red hair, vibrant hues or the fact that Chastain's red lipped smile knocked the socks off the audience in attendance and internationally. Social media went insane when Chastain nailed the red carpet in the Atelier Versace blue concoction with an asymmetrical neckline and peekaboo slit for the premiere of "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" on Saturday, May 17, 2014.  Jaws dropped, camera's popped and social media clicked with joy.  This is one red head who doesn't ever disappoint.  Stand aside, Angie, Nicole and Cate for Chastain has a winning streak of capturing everyone's hearts and minds when it comes to fashion. Pop the champagne and toast Chastain for stealing the fashion moment of the entire festival.   All hail the Forever Chic Style QueenJessica Chastain.

Forever Chic Style - "The Frumpy Frog Queen"

Elena Lenina

Elena Lenina, a Russian actress, evoked Pebbles from The Flintstones (Animated Cartoon - 1961-1966) in a vibrant pink gown, with an addition of a gaudy rope of giant Christmas silver baubles. The over top ensemble definitely caught the eye and formed the question of will Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty be the next to arrive?  And, is it Christmas time?   The cartoonish outfit and ensemble are uniquely creative but unfortunately scream The Frumpy Frog Queen.   Yes, noticed and remembered though tragically will be known as the jester in the court rather than a Forever Chic Style lady or Queen.  Maybe next time if invited of course!
