October Forever Chic Style Flash - The Essential Beauty Products

Fall is here and now is the time to clean out closets, give clothes to charity, update wardrobes and review essential beauty products for the wet and cold winter months.  With extremely sensitive skin, my search for beauty products that do not create a reaction is first and foremost.   Many products contain fragrances,  plant extracts or chemicals which can lead to a nasty red disaster on the face, eyes or body. Listed are five Forever Chic Style recommendations that I use on a daily basis. All work wonders for my sensitive skin.

1. The Ultimate Sensitive Skin Body Soap:  Dove Beauty Bar sensitive skin unscented ($3.65 per bar) - Everyday starts with a simple bar of soap.  And, for sensitive skin - Dove is the one to use on a daily basis.   This little bar cleanses, moisturizes, doesn't clog pores, is fragrance free and hypoallergenic.  Widely recommended by dermatologists and pediatricians.  In fact, my dermatologist recommends taking  bar of soap when traveling.  Never use any other if you have sensitive skin.

2.   Essential Body Lotion: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($10.99):   The ultimate body lotion to smooth on after a shower.  The lotion contains ACTIVE NATURALS Colloidal Oatmeal and other ingredients to keep skin moist for 24 hours.   For dry skin, Aveeno is the perfect solution leaving skin soft, smooth and hydrated.  And, it is fragrance free, nongreasy and noncomedogenic and dermatologist recommended. Perfect for sensitive skin.

3.   Outstanding Face Sunscreen:  Yes, even during the fall and winter months it is important to use a facial sunscreen daily.  Clarins UV Plus HP SPF 40 Day Screen ($40) glides on easily combined with moisturizer and foundation.  Clarins' claims that this sunscreen shields facial skin from daily sun damage with 100% mineral filters.  Fights free radicals and DNA damage deep within the skin’s surface with organic Cantaloupe — Clarins’ powerful new anti-oxidant from Provence. Invisible protection so sheer, it pairs perfectly with any moisturizer.  Again, for sensitive skin, this sunscreen for me leaves my skin rash and irritated free.

4.  Leading Eye & Correction Concealer:  Cle' de Peau's Beaute' Concealer ($70) covers red spots, dark circles etc., beautifully. The formula is made with hyaluronic acid and green tea covering imperfections while illuminating the skin.  The cost is high yet one tube will last one to two years.   Celebrities that use Cle' de Peau's Beaute' Concealer are Nicole Kidman, Kate Moss, Jennifer Connelly, Kate Winslet, Ellen Pompeo, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Alba as reported in Town & Country, February 2013.

5.  Sensational Lip Moisturizer and Plumper:  Looking for the Angelina Jolie pout?  Search no more - Dior Addict Lip Mazimizer ($31) is the answer.   The blend of collagen and marine-based fillers smooth and moisturize the appearance of the skin.   After 15 days of use, lips will look noticeably fuller and defined.  It is a wonderful base under lipstick or alone.  Pucker up and smile!

In other words, it is fine to dress up daily, take care of self, be kind to others, share life and be a beautiful butterfly with courage and happiness. After all, the world is a stage and everyday is your opportunity to play a part in your own play.  So, why not dress for success with a smile!  Audrey did and so can you!

Books to Read - February 2021

Read, Read, Read "We read to know we are not alone." C.S. Lewis Do you love to read? I do.  In fact, I always have a book on deck for my pleasure.  I wake up in the morning and carry my favorite novel downstairs.  It is how I start and end my day.  I am always reading.  It is my quintessential past time.  What do I like about the novels I chose?   I enjoy historical fiction with tales about the human condition.  Or I love stories told in a new place that I have never visited. Afterwards, I want to travel there and sink into the surroundings.  If I enjoy an author, I will read ALL  his or her books.  I tend to read books where the woman is the lead character.   I enjoy the strife, angst, and messiness of the characters' lives and how they prevail with strength, wisdom and love.  The struggle reminds me of the complexity of life and the beauty all in one snapshot.   Additionally, authors who share human drama, vivid details of the landscape and scenery plus poured their h

Perfume Spritz - My Favorite Things

Beauty in a Bottle "Perfume heralds a woman's arrival and prolongs her departure." Beauty is hard to describe.  The very essence of what is beautiful varies from person to person, culture to culture and land to land.  Perfume is similar to the idea of beauty. It is subjective.  Perfume is a mystery, and its elixir is a marvel. The scent becomes its own magic.  It is the lingering scent that creates a moment or recreates a memory of a person.  Whether it is spice, floral or warm notes of lavender or vanilla, a scent can bring immense comfort and pleasure.  What does stand the test of time is a signature perfume.  Perfume was created in 1340 for the Queen of Hungary.  Thus, the story of fragrances commenced.  Perfume remains at the top of everyone's list of "feeling good."  Additionally, perfume sales in 2020 were close to $34B.   We all have experienced being around someone who smells divine.  The scent is memorable and hard to capture in a bottle. Even in

Happy Valentines Day 2021

Love is in the Air!!!  Or is it Snow? "Where there is love there is life." Mahatma Gandi What Does Valentine's Day Mean to You?  It is snowing hard here in the Pacific Northwest.  We have eight inches, and it is still swirling down and covering everything.  The beauty of snow changing the landscape is a sight to behold.  Ever since I was a child, I have loved the snow.  We used to play endlessly in the streets building snowmen, having snowball fights, making snow angels, sledding and creating igloos. We did not go inside until we were cold, wet, and hungry.  We were always in the elements playing with friends or family members. The days of being a child without a care in the world are indeed cherished.  Today, I love the sound of kids playing in the snow.  It is wonderous.   Of course, Valentines Day 2021 for me is a winter wonderland.  Hopefully, we will continue to have power.  It remains to be seen.  Mother nature moves at its own pace and can never be accurately pr

Winter Fashion 2021

The Chilly Artic "Good clothing is a passport to happiness." Yves Saint Laurent Yves St. Laurent Fashion Exhibit - Seattle Art Museum (2016) The winter of 2021 has been brutally cold across the country.  One for the ages. With snowstorms, bitter winds and ice, the frigid temperatures have seeped into everyone's bones.  Even places slated to be warm in February tend to be on the cooler side of the temperature gage.  Though, I must note that temps are slowly getting warmer in the sun infused states.  Beyond the weather, nerves remain flared as people struggle to get the vaccine, keep safe and bundled up all in one sweep.  The stress is at an all-time high.  It seems to me; we need to sit back and figure out how to be helpful to one another.  To be positive and appreciative for family and friends during these trying moments. We are closer to having everyone vaccinated and getting back to a semi-normal life.  In the meantime, we must be patient and diligent awhile longer.
