Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! July 19th - August 4th
First and Foremost:
Congratulations to The Duke and The Duchess of Cambridge for the birth of their handsome baby boy on June 22, 2013-
George Alexander Louis, HRH, Prince of Cambridge!
This year the selection of apparel, shoes and handbags was limited in high end named quality brands. In the past, a fabulous Burberry trench coat in top quality material was on sale at an excellent price or St. John hot of the press legging and matching jacket or even the standard Stuart Weitzman black pumps. In 2013, the incredible deals were lacking or the inventory quickly sold out. Instead, lots of low end or cheaper brands are on sale. One customer commented that the target market has changed for Nordstrom. Perhaps Nordstrom is now competing with more mainstream stores? After all, when the youth purchases from H&M and Forever 21 - Nordstrom needs to play too. Right! Even the adults, yes - my age group, are looking for the quick fix or cheaper deals from the Nordstrom Rack.
Forever Chic Style mavens need to remember lots of cheaper clothing will not last versus a fabulous high end piece will be reached for from a wardrobe over and over again. In looking at my closet, I continually select my more expensive high end brands in blouses, pants or tops when dressing up. Why? The quality of the fabric, construction is superb, fit is perfect and the items look brand new. French women believe in the apparel mantra of "less is best" versus a closet stuffed with low end apparel.
What is Forever Chic Style Classic HOT everlasting pieces at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale 2013? After checking out all of the clothing at the pre-sale - these are the must have items.

Quote from Overdressed, The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion, Elizabeth L. Cline:
"Americans, she finds, buy roughly 20 billion garments a year—about 64 items per person—and no matter how much they give away, this excess leads to waste. The “clothing deficit myth” is what she calls the notion, comforting to fashionistas, that giving discards to charity offsets consumption. In fact, Cline reports, “charities long ago passed the point of being able to sell all of our wearable used clothes.”
