Star Trek Into Darkness (2013): Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin

"You think you are safe. You are not."  Kahn

Star Trekkies are in for a fun-filled summer movie experience. Star Trek first appeared on television in September 1966 and since then has traveled through time and space with several television spinoffs and a vast array of movies on the large screen.  Star Trek Into Darkness, takes a fresh spin by focusing on Chris Pine, James T. Kirk, earlier career and entire officer team on the U.S.S. Enterprise with Kirk at the helm.  The story begins with a primitive planet where First Officer, Zachary Quinto, Spock, is trapped over a boiling ocean of lava.  Spock, calm, cool and collected is ready to die to save his crew.  Kirk, of course, does not allow this to happen, breaking Federation protocol and saving Spock.  Facing consequences for a brash decision, Kirk, is stripped of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and at the same time finds an unstoppable evil force within their own organization sending shock waves and crisis amongst the land. The mass destruction evil player, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kahn, escapes to space after creating deadly havoc.  Kirk bent on a mission of vengeance after the destruction is given back the Enterprise and blasts into space to a war-zone world to capture the evil doer.  As our favorite heroes speed via warp drive into outer space to conquer evil, friendships are formed and torn, love examined along with a splattering of Romulan's, and even a tribble.

Star Trek into the Darkness is fantastic from start to finish. The cast is fresh, storyline believable with the  familiar and much loved witty batter amongst the cast of characters.  Audiences will eagerly look forward to more adventures of the starship Enterprise with the new cast as it speeds forward on a 5 year mission where no man has gone before.

Monday's Favorite Things - The Blazer

Classic is KeyL'Agence
Recently, I cleaned out my closet and donated seven bags of apparel.   The items ranged from high quality constructed blazers that I have owned over a decade along with other clothes that no longer fit.  It was difficult to let go of so many beautiful and well cherished pieces.  However, I know someone out there will love the blazers, skirts and suits that were donated.  They will be used rather than languishing in my closet and collecting dust.
At the end of Finding Nemo (2003).   Nemo and his pals state, "Now What?"
When you are done purging the aftermath in a wardrobe can be unnerving.  You may find yourself in Nemo's predicament and think "Now What?""Where are my blazers for those occasions I need them?" Of course, over the last 8 months we have been primarily house bound and without need of fancy apparel.  For me, I have lived in shorts, tees, jeans, cashmere pullovers, tennis shoes and boots.  My lovely blazers were neve…

Jeans - Ripped, Baggy or Classic

Trendy or Modern Classic? Celebrate Being a Woman!
The Trends

The Classics

Something is in the air this Spring when it comes to jeans now more than ever.   The trendy rage of jeans with holes, rips and bagginess in dark and light denim is present far and wide across the land. Additionally, embellishments of glitter and flowers cemented on the fabric is rampant.  To top it off the "mom" jean from the '80's is making an ugly reappearance. The challenge with these trends is that the eye sees only the distractions rather than the entire ensemble or person.  Of course, the trends are fun, whimsical and youthful.  Yet, apparel draped on a silhouette is all about lines and proportions and when one element screams attention the overall look is lost and questioned.   In comparison, classic dark denim either in a skinny or straight leg jean creates clean lines and flatters from head to toe.   The dark denim blends in with the other hues and construction of the other pieces cre…

Monday's Favorite Things - The Bootie

What I love this Week?- Bootie by Aquatalia"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." Coco Chanel

Rain, cold, wind and breezy days has spread across the Pacific Northwest.  Thus, sweaters, jeans, wool coats, leather gloves, boots and booties are making a fast entrance to daily life.   It is an exciting time of the year when the world changes to the glorious colors of fall ending the days of sun and warmth.  We eagerly pull out beautiful fabrics and exquisite apparel slated for the cold fronts on the horizon.
My favorite boot brand is Aquatalia.   I love their tall boots and booties for the rain infused months that lay ahead.   The company is based in San Francisco, California.  All the boots are crafted in Italy, with meticulous care towards Italian shoemaking.  The fit is superb and comfort exceptional right out of the box.  Additionally, Aquatalia is waterproof and stain resistant even in suede.   Now, I would not wear these beautiful numbers during a snowstorm or on a day wh…
