Fabulous Five Must Haves for Fall 2012

I. The Ladylike Suit:  The ladylike suit is authoritative, feminine and the most important ensemble in a Forever Chic Style mavens wardrobe.  A must have black tailored suit with a peaked lapel jacket, slim fitting pencil skirt and straight leg pants can be worn for an interview, presentation, luncheons and for daily activities.  Several outfits can be formulated from a three piece suit.  Additionally, choose a colorful Tweed suit for luncheons or evening events. Think Chanel and stand out in the crowd.
Icon Tip: Always purchase the dress, jacket and pants together.  Mix and match and become chic memorable.

II. The Sheath Dress: A classic sheath number with red lips, red nails and black pumps is screen siren memorable.  The sheath is always figure flattering especially this season.  Shades of purple, red, classic black and winter white combined with pretty pumps and pearls evoke The Fashion Icon. Envision Audrey Hepburn, in Breakfast at Tiffany's in a classic black sheath, pearls, red lips and with coiffed hair.  So refined, so simple and so unforgettable. Icon Tip:  Block hued dresses are chic and elegant.  Add a scarf, jewelry, pumps and strike a pose.

III. The Refined Winter Coat: The coat is the final piece that completes an ensemble. Always select a basic coat with minimal lines such as a pea coat in black, a long camel coat or classic trench. Additionally, select a few brightly hued coats to brighten a cold and grey day.  This little bit of sunshine will add a smile to admirers.  The coat is the signature statement that is super chic and unforgettable.     Icon Tip:  Pair with leather gloves, printed scarf, boots and classic handbag.

IV.  The Handbag:  The surest way to define a woman is by owning a quality handbag with distinct lines.   Invest in a black handbag that can be used year round.   Avoid owning cheaper handbags that last only a season or two.   Icon Tip:  Choosing a handbag of worth can be costly.  However, this investment will last for years to come versus owning many cheap "here today and gone tomorrow" handbags. Spend wisely.

V.  The Essentials: Save money and select a few Fashion Icon's essentials to spice up an ensemble.
  • Jeans:  Select the darkest and deepest blue denim.  Avoid low rise and remember if heavy on the bottom, jeggings and stove pipe jeans are out.  Choose boot cut or flare hems to add balance.  Low rise is best on the youth.
  • Scarves:  Buy in all shades and hues.  A scarf adds drama to an outfit.  French women never leave home without a scarf framing the face.
  • Pearls:  A strand of pearls either real or fake are divine with a cardigan or dress.
  • Boots:  Own a pair of knee high black boots with pointy toes.  The pointed toe will add elegance and style to any outfit.
  • Lips, Makeup, Nails and Hair:  Grooming is an important priority for the Fashion Icon. If in a hurry - there is always lipstick - choose red this season or for that matter - every season!
Icon Tip: Add a bit of color, shop wisely and become a Fashion Icon in Fall 2012 with Forever Chic Style.  Thank you Audrey Hepburn for having lived a life that all can emulate. And, for Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge who has captured the hearts and minds of fashionistas around the world with beauty, style and grace.

Would it not be wonderful to unite a fractured society where hate and anger were and still are at an all-time high.  Is it not time to start accepting one another, to listen to one another, and to support one another? Rather than throw stones at those with opposite thoughts or opinions.  It has been interesting and sad to witness such vitriol, destruction, and chaos this past year and hence.  Perchance rhetoric going forward will be filled with kindness for their fellow man.  One can only pray for sunshine to fill souls.  Thus, we begin again.  For now, notice the beauty around us.   The fall and winter to come are filled with peaceful moments when walking on your favorite trail.  Beauty surrounds us if we look.  The leaves, the wildlife, the rain, the lakes, the peace the small moments.
