The Bourne Legacy (2012): Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton

The Bourne Legacy opens with Jeremy Renner as Arron Cross, using survival skills in a snowy remote mountainous environment, fighting off wolves, while popping green and blue pills.  These little pills are the secret to creating the ultimate "survival of the fittest" man.   Cross, a new hero of the The Bourne trilogy is facing high stakes resulting from the events of the previous three films.

Rachel Weisz, Dr. Marta Shearing, is the doctor in charge of monitoring the blood and body transformations from Cross, and other pill popping agents returning from missions overcoming the elements.   The action begins violently in the snow and remains twisting and turning throughout this mesmerizing and entertaining movie.  When the agents begin to expire, the story explodes into gut racing action scenes.  Edward Norton, Retired Col. Eric Byer, USAF, of course, is involved in the sudden demise and eerily rings evil on a quest to extinguish the "chosen" few.   Like the Bourne series, Cross and Dr. Shearing are chased by the diabolical.    Of course, Jason Bourne's, name is mentioned, possibly foreshadowing the next Bourne adventure flick.

The acting is superb, storyline a bit weak and confusing, yet overall an entertaining movie.    Remember end of summer movies are about pure mindless entertainment and are not meant to be an Oscar award winning affair.   Enjoy this rocking ride.
