"Any little girl who's practicing their speech on the telly, you never know.  I used to work as a cleaner, and I loved that job.  I did quite a lot of my time imagining this."  Olivia Coleman, Best Actress, The Favourite

I Paid My Dues
Time after Time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've had made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face
But I've come through
And I need to go on and on, and on, and on
We are the Champions my friends

Lyrics from "We are the Champions" - Queen

The 91st Academy Awards Sunday, February 24th, 2019 was one for the ages.   Yes, Hollywood is the Champion with no time for losers.  Hollywood is the champion.  Hollywood is the champion.  The energy, excitement, wit, grace an acceptance speeches were at an all time high.  The attendees, A-listers, and audience viewers were stunned and thrilled by the incredible opening from Queen with Adam Lambert rocking the Dolby theater. Brilliantly played. Additionally, this was an exceptional year for film.  The movies captured hearts and minds worldwide with emotion, well told stories and sheer entertainment.  After all, seeing a movie is about escapism from the trials and tribulations of life.  We want to be entertained, we need to be entertained and who was going to do it... why Hollywood did with superb movies and wrapping it up with the infamous Academy Award show last night.  One for the ages!  ABC went back to the basics and won the Academy Award for Best Show in thirty years.  The eye popping and mesmerizing films included Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, The Favourite, Black Panther, Roma, Vice, BlackKkKlansman and my personal favorite of the year - A Star is Born.

When Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper walked on stage - the world stopped and held their breathe.  Absolutely the most moving moment of the night and completely unforgettable.  Acting at the finest hour on film and again on stage.  Or was it?   We may never know but the love of acting, film and excitement was in the definitely in the air.  Almost every acceptance speech was filled with grace, gratitude and hope for a better tomorrow.   Love permeated the theater and a profound feeling of "we are the champions" among  peers, family and those who create and develop movie magic.  Truly an epic night.

As for fashion? Well, the star studded celebrities and guests were draped in glitter, ruffles, diamonds galore with hues of hot pink, yellow, gold, cream, white and black.  The fashion was form fitting, upbeat and filled with shades of Hollywood glamour.

Movie Star Queens

"Who are you wearing?"

It works - ABC brought the catch phrase back.  After all similar to making a  film it takes many to dress a star for the red carpet.  Everyone deserves credit.

Silver Screen Siren

Amy Adams - Nominated Best Supporting Actress -Vice - Versace:  Adams hour glass figure was ravishing in this Versace intricately designed off the shoulder frock.  The Cartier necklace, tennis bracelet and ring complimented this beauty with old style elegance.  The hair and makeup were perfection.

"Your dresses should be tight enough to show you are a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady"  Edith Head

White Goddess

Regina King - Winner Best Supporting Actress - If Beale Street Could Talk -  Oscar de la Renta:  The column dress in white with the magnificent high slit gathering at the waist was attention grabbing for this Oscar winner.  The jewels, makeup and hair made her the Queen of the red carpet.  King has been in the industry for years and this win is culmination of her acting gift.  I remember her in Jerry McGuire (1996) and have never forgotten her role.  I haven't seen "If Beale Street Could Talk" but look forward to it.  Additionally, King was extremely grateful in her acceptance speech.

"It's appropriate for me to be standing here because I'm an example of what it looks like when support and love is poured into someone.  Mom, I love you so much. Thank you for teaching me that God is always leaning - always has been leaning - in my direction.'"  Regina King

Brunette Classic Bombshell

Charlize Theron -  Dior:  The periwinkle Dior gown combined with over 75 carats of diamonds from Bulgari was eye-fetching.  The iconic Serperti design of the necklace was resplendent against the hue of the dress.  Theron strolled onto the red carpet with newly minted brunette hair, glittering in diamonds and frankly stole the red carpet out from everyone's feet.

"Diamonds are a girls best friend"

Old Hollywood Glamour

Constance Wu - Versace:  The bright yellow gown on the red carpet was beautifully fresh and epic.  This Fresh off the Boat (ABC) and Crazy Rich Asian (2018) actress was every bit the movie star with her memorable red lipped smile and Atelier Swarovski high end drop earrings all the while radiating happiness on this evening.

Ryan Seacrest interview about Crazy Rich Asians (2018): "It was kind of historic.  For someone like me, who is Asian-American, I had grown up never seeing a major network or major studio tell a story that centered around my experience.   To be something like that for young women today, to let them know that they can be heroes of their own stories and their stories are worthy and interesting and people want to know them....That has been so meaningful to me.  That's why it's been so important to me."  Constance Wu

Mirror Mirror on the Wall - Whose the Fairest of Them All?

Jennifer Lopez - Tom Ford:   J Lo made an entrance on the red carpet in a Tom Ford number that sent photographers into a jaw dropping frenzy.  The mirror mosaic material combined with simple earrings and rings created the illusion of gorgeous statute.  This talented artist who stunned at the Grammy's with her singing ability did it again on the red carpet.

"Fashion creates a bit of a dream." Tom Ford

Pretty in Hot Pink - The Best of the Best Dressed

Julia Roberts - Elie Saab:  Roberts is Hollywood Royalty and on this night she presented the award for Best Movie to (Green Book (2018) with grace, all smiles and professionalism that was refreshing and memorable.  Additionally, the hot pink gown, diamonds, nails, hair and makeup stopped the presses.   She captured everyone's attention in this moment.  And, for me she sparkled with both inner and outer beauty.

"Character, strength, intelligence, style that makes beauty" Diane von Furstenberg

A Star is Born

Lady Gaga - Winner Original Song Shallow - A Star is Born (2018) - Alexander McQueen:  My favorite fashionista of the night was indeed Lady Gaga.  The moment she walked onto the red carpet in the black Alexander McQueen gown with the $30M 128 carat yellow Tiffany diamond last worn by Audrey Hepburn signaled a true star had arrived.  The diamond, found in the Kimberly mines in South Africa 1877, is considered an American Crown Jewel and only three people have ever worn it. The hair, makeup and both black dresses worn evoked Hepburn from "A Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961).  More importantly, Lady Gaga completely stole the show when she and Bradley Cooper sang Shallow.  It was a moment that will never be repeated again at the Oscars.  The chemistry was electrifying culminating with everyone giving them a standing ovation twice -once on camera and once off.   It was unforgettable.

"To my sister, my soulmate, I love you.  My family's here, I love you, Mom and Dad.  Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could've sang this song with me but you.  Thank you for believing in us.  Thank you so much.  And if you are at home, and you're sitting on your couch and you're watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work.  I've worked hard for a long time, and it's not about, you know...it's not about winning.  But what it is about is not giving up.  If you have a dream, fight for it.  There's a discipline for passion.  And its not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you're beaten up.  It's about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going. Thank you!"  Lady Gaga

Hollywood indeed was the champion.   The 91st Academy awards show was mesmerizing and the best to date.  The no-host formula was perfect and the overall show was fantastic.   Movies are loved by many world wide.  So let's enjoy, relish and seek out films that are emotional and provide a well told story.  After all life is a journey and why not seek out the best and also be the best you can be. Enjoy your life and be a shining light of positivism.  Have faith and perseverance in yourself.   The Oscar winners did this year.  They are the champions and you are a champion in your own life. Seek it out, dream big and believe.

"I did my best, and my best was good enough" Hannah Beachler, Best Production Design, Black Panther
